Amazon Scam?

Good for you! Don't even attempt to reply to it, just go independently to your Amazon account and what's the betting that Wow! they have never had any such request from you!

I have tended to avoid them lately, ordering directly from firms instead.

This morning I had an 'account' from Apple saying I had bought some music app download costing £28-89 per month - I realised it was not from Apple so rang and spoke to them about it and they said there seem to be a lot of these scams at the moment - they ask you to click on a link at the bottom of the email if you wish to cancel the order!

Welshwife With interest I ask, How were they to collect the money ?

Paypal are not behaving well either lately - they have failed to send on money paid through them to a charity I support

Welshwife - I received exactly the same thing this morning for the same amount. I went into Carphone Warehouse who told me to ignore it.

We had a phone call this afternoon supposedly from HMRC, a recorded message saying there was a law suit against us and to press 1 to speak to an advisor. Just put the phone down but I did google it and yes, this is definately a scam. Thought it worth mentioning as some people might be really worried about this.

Iam on the email there was no indication of how they would collect it but what I noticed and made me ring them was apart from there being no Apple logo they sent it to a hotmail account whereas Apple always use my iCloud mail account. The person told me that when you click to either cancel or see more details they then ask you for details to do the cancelling etc.

Welshwife, if you had clicked on the cancel option, I bet they would have asked for account details, that would then give them control of your account.

Just think what a world it would be if all the scammers and shysters used their energy and ingenuity to do a bit of good for a change!

I am the one who "does" all the finance etc at home and was trying to persuade DH to take a bit of an interest, so that he wouldn't be totally helpless if I fell under a bus. He said it won't really matter because he'll fall for the first scam he comes across and all our cash will have gone within the week anyway. Sadly, I fear he may not be joking .

Maggie that would be fantastic, I often wonder why everything goes to the lowest denominator not the highest. What is it that makes 'bad' more exciting than 'good'? If we could answer that question maybe we could change the world (for the better).

I just googled 'Amazon Scam' and they give an email a/d to forward such emails to, a lot of firms do this. This one is ' [email protected] '

So I'm about to do that.

I have had two scams today, one from paypal and one from the BBC saying they had deactivated my accounts and to type in all my details for them to put it right
The address is usually very similar with an extra letter or two.

harri I had the BBC one last week. I deleted it.

There doesn't seem to be any way to tell them.....

Thanks for these warnings everyone. They are really useful. Keep them coming as everyone needs to know about the latest scams. It would be so easy to be taken in they are so sophisticated.
