meandashy I know which name you mean as DD had chosen it if she had a girl (but he was a boy) 
I have an Australian friend with a very nice name similar to my DD's - not at all unusual but hers was pronounced in a German way. When she started school the teacher said she couldn't pronounce it and called her something else which seems to have stuck all her life.
I hope it wouldn't happen these days!
