Happy as can be
All good friends and
JOLLY GOOD COMPANY
Welcome...
A very misty Sunday afternoon greeting from Kintyre.
Such a lot of catching up to do. You lot are marvellous: talented; industrious; kind and caring.
for every one of you.
I logged on at five yesterday afternoon to wish you all a good evening. Within a few moments, the amber light started to flash and flicker and I knew that the blasted signal was on the blink. I was not amused.
ann I feel so sad for you. The anticipation will have buoyed your spirits. Life can throw some very disappointing spanners in the works...especially on family gathering occasions. Will you all be together once your granddaughter has recovered? Tonsillitis is a miserable and painful illness.
nancyma Pumpkin would not thank you for sharing a photo with us lot...it must be bad enough to have the Labs sniggering behind his back. I know that feeling well...never visit a new hairdresser when hoping to come away from the salon looking "drop-dead-gorgeous". I can recall times when I would stand in the nearest shop doorway and muss my hair into a more natural look.
NanaandGrampy The photos are lovely (as usual). I love the lamp. I would have made a total mess of constructing it. We put up our wee festive twigs with lights yesterday afternoon. I've taken a photo of the very ancient decorations that belonged to my late Nana. They were purchased at Woolworths a very long time ago.
kitty Persephone Grace. That is such a beautiful name. I'm so glad that your daughter is at long last settled with someone who treats her, and the children, with the kindness and respect they deserve.
cornergran You are in my thoughts. I trust that the visit to your friend won't be too distressing.
glamma Oliver is magnificent. Rory would be impressed. That's if he took the slightest bit of interest in felines other than himself and Bracken.
Charleyg
Rory woke MacSporran at 5am. MacSporran felt duty bound to "bond" with him.
Swanny my sister's grandson has autism. Support from family, is a blessing.
Swanny you are allowed some time off to care for your GS but if I am beavering away, I do not see why I should be on my own. I do hope that I still feel like clearing out the other two bedrooms. A pity that the charity shops are not open today because my bed is covered and the floor full of large black bags. I did not realise that it would take so long but I am having coffee breaks etc.
annsixty hope you manage to do something with your beef; if you cook it you could freeze it then serve later cold or thoroughly re-heated, and cauliflower cheese freezes well if the cauli is under-done.
Hope they all feel better soon, the virus that is going round is horrible and seems to come in different forms, not of them good.
glammamama - surely such a beautiful cat should be allowed one shot at becoming a daddy?
Charleygirl I went back to the kitchen cupboards yesterday and was going great guns till my DS arrived with DGS. They had all been going out to see friends but little one was definitely NOT in the mood for journeys on public transport, playing nicely with other children and coping with a lot of adults talking and playing music, so would Grandma look after him?
He was happy to stay with me and of course I was more than happy to have him, however his autism certainly had the upper hand yesterday. At least his parents had a few hours of relaxation together so that was good, and my cupboards won't take long to finish off tomorrow. Today though I'm recuperating
I'm so sorry your family aren't coming .So disappointing for you ann60. Hope GD gets better very soon
Oliver looks as though he has owned that house for years! Poor fellow being snipped before Christmas- his parents obviously do not care!
I have been reading posts and catching up for a while with all the photos and lovely goings on and can now post without too much discomfort after the arm/shoulder has healed to an acceptable level that doesn't cause too much pain.
We are now the parents of Oliver the shorthaired British Blue as you all know he is my xmas gift to myself but I brought him home mid August he settled in straight away and made friends with Poppy she thought he was a puppy at first and now they share a bed which is cute,he will be going to the vets on Monday morning to be "done" so I bet I will not be flavour of the month for a couple of days lol.
I meant "refreeze" the beef. Not "reference" why do I never spot these in time?
Annsixty I can really feel your disappointment. I would weep, actually. Can you either reference the beef or cook it (under done) then freeze just to be reheated when they next come? I have a suspicion some carveries do that and at least it won't be wasted.
Other than sympathy, I can offer no practical help.
What a buggeration for you.
kittylester too, chickenpox! Have all the others had it? Oh dear.
Yes still here kitty. Just to compound things D who was expected here today has just rung to say they aren't coming as Gd has acute tonsillitis and is really poorly.
I have a £30 piece of sirloin which has defrosted overnight and was just making cauliflower cheese for 7. The worst thing after my disappointment is H has not stopped wringing his hands and "going on". Christmas presents will be New Year presents now.
kitty whoops, I did not realise that Persie was a little girl. I have never heard the name Persephone before and I presume that it is pronounced Perseffony.
Another day of very thick fog here- I doubt if there is much traffic leaving from Heathrow which is fairly close, not that I would notice.
Back to the clearing and tidying up. It is taking an age but at least I have been doing it and seeing a result. I have found 2 spare shower mats and two spare loo brushes with containers. Where else would they be kept but a wardrobe?!
I fancied a lie in today but Tara had other ideas. She woke me before 7am but I refused to get up so she lay on my pillow.
Forgot to say that amongst everything else. 2 other dgds have chicken pox!
corner, I have lost 2 long rambling terribly erudite posts here recently! Or, I suppose it could be GN censoring my boring posts. I hope you have a successful visit with your friend.
Charley, Persie's name causes confusion all the time. She is actually called Persephone Grace and is a real little madam! But, apparently, taking the present for FC was her idea!
I haven't seen Ann for a while - I hope she is ok!
So the post I posted earlier has disappeared. How does it happen? I know it's not just me so I'm not feeling picked on, honest
Can't really remember what I said, which is worrying. I'm sure I would have commented that the photo of Jackson and Cooper made me smile and what a wonderful Santa.
I know I appreciated the straitjacket thought daphne, wondering now if Tesco sell them. Fingers are crossed already for a dry day so we can go out - and stay out! Littlest is adorable but is In training for Olympic sprinting, whereas his grandparents are snail like. He hasn't a clue about Santa, much more interested in de-needling (is that a word?) the tree.
Our older two are split about Santa, the younger one believes, the older one is wavering, definitely sceptical but also pragmatic, what is there to lose by believing? Like her style
.
Pleased Bertie and Persie had a gift for Santa, kitty, definitely at the top,of the good list now, along with Jackson and Cooper.
I am supposed to be having an early night as we're off to visit our friend tomorrow and it will be a long day. Not so sure my intention is going to work out, sleepy dust needed, please!
Wishing everyone well, especially those who are finding this December a difficult one.
A lovely age- they still believe in Santa. Delighted to hear that your DD's new partner is a better father to the two little fellows.
Charley, Bertie is 5 in January and Persie is 4 in March. They are the ones who lived with us fir a while after DD'S marriage broke up. Her new partner is 100 times better father!
n&g I've just realised that the lamp and poinsettias are the craft kit you are talking about. Amazing I thought it was a metal lamp, how clever.
kitty how old are they?
Well, I turn my back and the kitchen explodes with activity. I will have to have a chance to catch up but I have seen some lovely photos, spotted a fabulous tree and noticed some newcomers and CAKE!!
I'm also pleased to see that somoeone as accomplished as NandG has pieces left over - not that I would know where to start.
On the subject of meeting Father Christmas, Bertie and Persie went today and when they got to the front of the queue they produced a penny each out of their pockets to give to him!
Never change your hairdresser before Christmas !
I've had an emergency. Pumpkin, my gorgeous dog, has just returned from the groomers and has been primped to within an inch of his life. The three labradors are smirking and giggling in the the garden and Alfie his closest friend can't stop jumping on his bouffant arrangement. Shouldn't have changed beauty parlour, hope it will settle down. At least he looks better without the bows. Oh dear. No I won't post a photo it will just embarrass him.
Of course Jackson and Cooper are on the nice list- where else would they be?! It is lovely if they still both believe, it makes it all more magical for them.
Afternoon all!!
Sorry I've been missing in action. Time is flying by at a rate of knots and I don't know my arse from my elbow as my Mum used to say !!
I'm going to have to play catch up as lots of posts to read. Some lovely pictures I noticed and some great times with dgc I noticed.
We have a pre Christmas party with our daughters and their families tonight complete with take away. I am duty driver sadly but I'm taking my camera for our annual Christmas hat photo! Watch this space tomorrow !
I have been tackling a hugely complicated 3D papercut which has taken a ridiculous amount of time and like all IKEA builds I've got bits left over
!
Jackson and Cooper met Santa today and apparently .....they're on the nice list
Right off to do some reading !!
Jalima The video is marvellous. MacSporran enjoyed watching it with me.
