It is many years ago now that I walked through "cardboard city" in London (no longer there) with a couple of friends, one friend said always keep a few coins in your pocket so you don't have to get your purse out
, I would never have walked through there on my own.
Sight I will never forget was leaving a meeting at 4.30pm in Winter & seeing young people bedding down in doorways, that was over 20 years ago
I have always supported Salvation Army & my clothing donations go to them, what isn't fit for resale etc is sent for rags for which they receive payment.
It is a sad state of affairs where there is so little support now for the homeless, more shelters are needed & housing also support for addicts & mental health issues
