I was so happy when I went to M&S today

because I found some really nice (not thick) thermal socks, with spotty or stripey design, and best thing was they were in different sizes. Last time I bought socks they were all one size and because I am a shoe size 4 I always end up with the heel half way up my calf. These ar sized 4-6 or 6-8 and fit well, really comfy and warm. I have always fumed at the fact that men's socks came in different sizes but women's didn't, so happy - equality at last. In some things at least!

I went to M&S today, to help -give unwanted advice- DS buy a new jacket. I did like the range of mustard yellow items, so I'm going back when it quieter to have a good look.

I have size 6 feet. Which size socks should I go for...?confused

Yes I too have noticed that M&S have finally seen sense and now size their ladies socks........used to be only the men's ones????

My biggest complaint with ladies socks is the patterns, why do they seem to be "jazzy" i just want plain, its a bit like pyjamas i dont want cute kittens, sheep or slogans on my clothes, i am a grown up now not a child

Lazigirl....I got some too. They are lovely aren't they?

I was roaming through M&S today, gazing with loathing at some of the clothes and a nice girl came and asked if she could help me - she won't do that again grin She sais she would pass on my comments, and we all know how much good that will do. However I did buy two nice chunky necklaces and a rather striking coat in the sales last week.

Oh I love jazzy socks! After decades of having to wear plain dark socks under trousers for work, it is so liberating to have a drawer full of brightly coloured socks - not a boring black pair in sight smile

grannypiper I quite agree. Looking on line in other places I have noticed that nightdresses hardly cover one's rear end as well as having sheep or whatever across the chest area. I want to be warm in bed- long gone are the other times!

grannypiper socks are surely a unisex item if you want them plain why not buy them from the men's section, unless you have smaller than size 6 feet.

My complaint with all socks is that the one on my right foot always falls down!confused

PRINTMISS Sun 29-Jan-17 08:44:47

Kitty changing the subject rather, not matter how I tie my left shoe lace (whatever shoes), it ALWAYS comes undone.

PRINTMISS Sun 29-Jan-17 08:47:15

continuation, back to thread! All my socks are jazzy, except for bowls. Love jazzy socks, and no bother with size, there is usually one missing, though, not sure how that happens.

My only criterion with socks is that they don't have a huge lumpy seam just across the toes. There are expensive socks that have it and cheap ones that don't. Next time I'm in the UK I shall check the M&S socks and pronounce my verdict.

Socks with no sizes given? I don't think I've ever seen any. That may be because some German women have large feet and no way could "one size fit all!"

Socks and tights no longer have reinforced toes. I continually get holes in them.

GrannyA11i Tue 31-Jan-17 23:00:48

I get holes in my socks too - especially thin cool cotton ones. As for tights - only worn them twice in 5 years so not a problem these days! ?????. I wear leggings but not tights!
