We are on acid, sandy soil next to a Heather Moor and I get best results from bulbs planted in the green. For the last few years I have been buying the native Daffodil, in the green, much smaller than cultivated varieties but a lovely primrose yellow that copes with the wind and flowers early. I have never been able to keep Aconites, but snowdrops naturalised overtime, as do Bluebells and grape hyacinths seem to thrive in the sandy soil. Crocus and Tulips like the well drained soil as well.
