My Nannie had a scullery and she had been in service. She also had a coal hole under the stairs where her singer sewing machine lived (the coal was outside in the yard).Her kitchen was what we would call the living room and she also had a parlour which was never used.She lived in a tiny terraced house yet one room was kept for "good"!
