My son was 9lb 10oz at birth. He was the biggest in the ward (and had the biggest head as well !). He is now a very skinny 40 year old, much thinner than his older brother who was 6lb 6oz.

The big lad was quite difficult to feed as a newborn as he was very hungry but kept falling asleep before he had got enough. He remained chubby as a baby and the Health Visitor used to tell me off - but as soon as he got up on his feet his baby fat just fell off and he became his gorgeous skinny self.

I've no idea what I weighed but I'm happy to blame my birth weight!

My biggest baby is now the slimmest but she plays a lot of netball.

Interesting - there must be studies on it.

I was 9lbs 12oz at birth attributed by the midwife to mother having spent most of the pregnancy in bed (rest cure she had TB). I have spent my life battling with my weight- is it connected probably not. How about everyone else?

(This came up because I just saw a photograph of a new born who weighed 8lbs and he looked gigantic I must have been a fright).
