Aside from the virtual cake obviously... grin

It would be really helpful for us to know what you like about Gransnet, and what draws you to the site? Is it the general chatter and social aspect, the advice, the competitions, the word games, the articles, the webchats. If you were to pick your top three (or if you can't think of three then just one will do!) reasons for logging on, or what keeps you coming back, what would they be?

Mary don't be daft, I don't get offended x

For me, this sort of forum is rather like the chat I used to have with work colleages. Rarely do I make comments on anything serious - so unlikely to change anyone's opinion on a forum. But like general chat, gossip about soaps, (why is there not a separate radio thread?). Talk about what we do each day, etc. etc. New to this particular forum, but I do read an awful lot more threads than in which I post.

All too often to put off something useful I should be doing instead! I really am going to do that hoovering now...

Chewbacca Wed 02-Aug-17 22:11:32

Better get over to the Argy Marydoll , I've put you up for a pickled onion and chilli eating contest. You'll be fine! No bother! grin

Marydoll Wed 02-Aug-17 22:09:40

Sorry Menopause ?
You know I would never intentionally offend my café pal.

Chewbacca Wed 02-Aug-17 21:47:23

grin OK Menopaws thoroughly chastened

Chewbacca Wed 02-Aug-17 21:46:09

Although Saint Agur is good too. Very versatile, good for adding to cheese sauces because it melts so easily. And Black Sticks. And Roquefort. And.........--my name is Chewbacca and I am a cheese addict--

Menopaws Wed 02-Aug-17 21:41:06

Let me finish. Firstly it is not namby pamby if you put marmite thickly on biscuit with said cheese(minus pineapple) on top and secondly get back to the Argy where I can argue with you properly rather than offend the real ladies on this thread. Then I will challenge you to a pickled onion eating competition Chewy if you're hard enough

Marydoll Wed 02-Aug-17 21:31:37

Me too. Non of that wishy, washy stuff grin

Chewbacca Wed 02-Aug-17 21:23:43

Never Menopaws ! Cottage cheese and fruit is namby pamby! You can't beat a good chunk of extra strong cheddar; onion pickle and crackers. I like a cheese to be strong enough to bite me back!

Menopaws Wed 02-Aug-17 21:10:43

But cottage cheese with pineapple is a truly tropical treat, surely better than a block of cheddar!

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 21:00:31

I had cottage cheese today, a very poor substitute for the real thing.

I may have to have a Magnum now because I feel sad

Auntieflo Wed 02-Aug-17 17:53:06

Jalima, sorry, I know you said you were on a diet, but the other day I bought some of this "Montagnolo Affine" and it was just gorgeous.

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 17:22:54

You're supposed to put it in your mouth not in your ears ..........

Greyduster Wed 02-Aug-17 17:18:15

I posted in the kitchen a conversation I had with Mr Duster earlier today in the car after we had sorted out the loose ends for a project. ”Do you think we've actually achieved something today?" "Yes", he said "Cheese will be fine"! It may keep the metabolism going but it soesn't do much for the hearing!

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 17:00:18

They do say that eating a piece of cheese between meals helps keep the metabolism going.
smile

That's my excuse today.

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 02-Aug-17 15:59:12

Thanks Menopaws smile. And everyone else.

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 14:27:39

goody!!

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 14:27:30

It's all the beer that they put in the cheese Penstemmon
Or it could be the fermented anchovies in the Worcestershire Sauce
(I didn't partake, being a good two-shoes)
