I just inspired myself in another thread, by thinking that some folk view ladies of a certain age as 'past it' and only interested in homely things.. Over 50s ladies shouldn't.. (Over to you, ladies)
Like Punk, Rock & Metal (I've been listening to it since the 1970s and I'm not going to stop now) Have a seriously inappropriate thing about the lead singer of a metal band who is younger than one of my DCs Wear band t-shirts and skinny jeans Go out and get p****ed as a fart with DD and her mates (and get DS to pick me up)
What have I done recently at 60+ ? Started wearing contact lenses, finally grown out my fringe, learned the Argentine tango and wearing cropped 'girl-friend' jeans size 12 after a lifetime of being a sturdy size 18!
Wear a bikini Find they are wearing exactly the same clothes as their 10 year old grand daughter (black leggings, sweater, cardigan and flatties) Drink pints Prefer cheese at the end of a meal rather than a dessert.
Look at their nieces new boyfriend - same age as their own son - and think phew he's fit...........! Buy sexy knickers...........! Read books because someone has told you that there are very rude bits in them............!
I'm one of the protesters about Facebook, and the 18 thousand Twitter followers. I'm mortified to think that I may have given away info which is not really mine to give: about family and suchlike.
Just a thought ... I wonder how many of us who have posted here have also expressed our dismay about the GN / Facebook link ? In the light of 'FaceGate' as I like to call it in the dim recesses of my brain, this has felt like a very funny antidote to all the angst!
Don't know where you lot live and what sort of people you know, but most of the things you have posted, the over 50s up here can be found doing on a night on the Toon. Quite often in the company of their DDs, DILs and even DGDs. GAG nights (Grab a Granny) have been going on for ages.
They should never: Eye up mens bottoms when sitting on the tube or bus - even if said 'bits' are at eye level. Call dithering shoppers all manner of names under their breath at checkouts.
MissAdventure: They shouldn't: say "sorry kids, having an afternoon of unbridled passion so don't come round".
I have had to text my partner's daughter pointing out that 10pm on a Saturday night is not the best time to phone her dad, when we only get weekends together
Have loved this thread - a bit of a down day for me yesterday, but it made me chuckle again an again. The thought of so many 'anonymous', but 'naughty' grannies out there transformed my train journeys .
... say naughty words in front of sweet, innocent 19 month-old DGS (and start practising 'raised eyebrows' look for when he inevitably starts to use same...)
... spend more money on prosecco, red wine and chocolate than healthy eating.
...answer the door in a baggy t-shirt without a bra on (not pretty!)
... not cackle loudly over 'funny', but very un p.c. jokes in public.
I once ( well maybe not once) used the f word at work all the young people stopped talking looked at me aghast and one said 'I m shocked' .......if that's all it takes to shock them I give up??
