Mystery gas in Sussex

Has anyone here been affected by the gas cloud that blew in from the sea over the Sussex coast yesterday? I was reading the thread about open windows and suddenly wondered if my waking up this morning with really sore eyes was connected. I always sleep with the window wide open and we're only a few miles away from the coast. That gas couldn't just disappear, it would have had to disperse over a wide area. I'll be very interested to find out what it was.
