Can I add one more consideration about 'not just yet'?
I have 2 friends whose (widowed) mothers moved to be near them whilst in their 70s. Outgoing & sociable people, they took up interests, joined local activities, and best of all, became good friends with their children's friends (including me!). One in particular was a great comfort when my own mother was deteriorating.
Another, who waited until necessary, then relied totally on her son for company, because she was unable to get out.
Now, it doesn't suit everyone - uprooting a lifetime's (or more) relationships, baggage and history does not come easily, and the 2 for whom it succeeded were women who had moved several times in their adult lives - they were leaving friends, but not 'roots'. But I do think it's worth consideration.
