It's on facebook as well so I think very hard before posting now.

No wonder there have been so many name changes. hmm

This sort of thing keeps me from taking part in many of the threads here. It's one thing posting in a forum of registered members, but quite another to have your posts quoted to the general public in the Daily Mail, particularly on personal matters. GN should be aware that this makes the whole forum of limited use and relevance to its members.

Surely not theft though, presumably GN have allowed it.
The fierce debate is more of a gentle bicker, if that!

Elegran Tue 10-Oct-17 17:14:50

Go to it (or go back to it) and give your opinion of the DM's theft of the thread. If they want to hear from us, let it be something about them!

Grannyknot Tue 10-Oct-17 16:59:22

Given that politics creep into many threads, you could ... turn it into a political thread so that it goes "off-topic" grin - at least they would get their "fierce debate"!

Bellanonna Tue 10-Oct-17 16:27:00

I’m appalled by that!

nanaK54 Tue 10-Oct-17 16:23:40

I did post on that thread, but thankfully nothing controversial and nothing that could possibly link back to me.
Agree with all other posters saying that this is very lazy journalism

BBbevan Tue 10-Oct-17 16:19:19

That's a bit concerning. Glad I didn't post on that thread. I hope those that did are not easily identifiable. Awful I think of DM.

Anya Tue 10-Oct-17 15:42:20

This is why I rarely post these days.

BlueBelle Tue 10-Oct-17 14:38:09

Ummm don’t like that at all sneaky and lazy I hate sneakiness

vampirequeen Tue 10-Oct-17 14:35:12

Ah but the other threads don't fit in with their criteria.

I agree it's sloppy journalism. They needed a filler so trawled Gransnet.

Maggiemaybe Tue 10-Oct-17 14:28:43

If they'd wanted fierce debating, there are one or two other threads they should have looked at first! grin

morethan2 Tue 10-Oct-17 14:17:45

Thanks for that information MotherH

morethan2 Tue 10-Oct-17 14:16:55

I'm shocked that they just copied and pasted with user names too. Talk about lazy

NanaandGrampy Tue 10-Oct-17 14:14:44

I find the whole idea distasteful . I know all about This being an open forum but it makes me only want to discuss the weather and jam and knitting!

Greyduster Tue 10-Oct-17 13:24:20

What surprised me is that the DM listed the posts as they appear on here. I know it is not a closed forum, but I don't think I like the idea of that.

Iam64 Tue 10-Oct-17 13:07:29

The DM seems to use a mums net thread almost daily it seems, they must have a staff member trawling mumsnet and gransnet to fill gaps in their news feed. Lazy cheap journalism imo.

Grannyknot Tue 10-Oct-17 13:04:25

LOL for the "fierce debate" bit.

MotherHubbard Tue 10-Oct-17 12:53:05

‘Grandmothers engage in fierce debate about loving their grandchildren more than their offspring’.
Don’t really want to admit to looking at Daily Mail on-line but noticed this article today with a link to full thread on Gransnet. I know there was a discussion a while ago about threads being allowed to be used outside of this forum such as Facebook and some members weren’t aware this forum is not private so thought I would just mention it again.
