Model is 5'9 and wearing a size 8 ?

I am looking for a long evening dress (not too fancy) but at only 5'3 ish am too short for most of the ones I've seen. Looking online I spot the perfect floor length dress only to find, yet again, it is being modelled by a giant with a waist smaller than my wrist! Where do all these tall thin people come from and why are they the only ones allowed to wear long dresses?

Crafting, it's ridiculous, isn't it?

Even on sites intended for those women over a size 14 all the models are extremely shapely and tall so they don't look in any way 'bigger') Size 14 was considered fairly thin when I was in my twenties, yet now with the advent of size 4s and 6s a 14 is deemed huge.

I know most models are tall because they make better clothes hangers, but oh for photos of shorter more dumpy women wearing things I might consider buying! grin

I suppose there is flawed logic in that. If shorter, plumper models don't look good in the photos, those viewing won't be attracted to the clothes! We can't win! confused

Maybe look in some Petite ranges?
