What have you 'always wanted' and did you get it?

Apparently Lewis Hamilton always wanted a private jet (and got one) - is there anything you've always wanted? And, did it live up to your expectation?

I wanted a Jackie Brazil necklace but it is soooo heavy I rarely wear it.

I never wanted a bungalow always worried about safety but now I would probably give my right arm for one.
Too late now sad

Can I join your choir pamelaj? I still recall the shame of not being allowed to sing in my junior school class choir and hearing my Grandad saying I sounded like a frog croaking.

I understand your desire for your daughter paddyann and if I may I wish the same for us both and anyone living with CFS/fibro.

On a positive note I always wanted to live in a bungalow and now I do. Love it smile.

I also wanted a sister, called my brother Pauline for ages.

Lakeland coloured pencils, weren't they just the best, and the smell, when you opened the tin, mmmmmmmm

My real wish was for a Mill stone water feature. I saw this on Pebble Mill at One, (Peter ? someone presenting) but have never got one.

Oh, and a cupboard under the stairs. Drew a line down the wall, for access from the hall, but DH just painted over it. I'm still waiting

paddyann I'm going to wish that for your daughter too

1moleta3...oh what a shame, I'm looking for a new home for my 2 seater garden swing seat, you'd be welcome to it if you were anywhere near me ..

Back in the 1970s when I used to sing in the car, one of my children said "Mum you sing like Les Dawson plays the piano"

I'm not into shoes or handbags or jewellery so I tell my OH he's a lucky man,in fact I have to be talked into buying things for myself....if its something I dont need .Anything I need I get so theres not much to hanker after .I want more than anything for my lovely daughter to regain her health ,to have days pain free and for her to be able to get her life back.If I could BUY that I would in a heartbeat .

Pamela. I could join your choir. Even with a 7 year age gap, each of my boys said"please don't sing Mummy". But I love it and know all the words to all the musicals. I sing in the car when alone.

Oh yes, I've always wanted to be able to sing, or play an instrument well enough to produce something that sounds good, and is satisfying. I have an absolutely awful voice.

PamelaJ1 Thu 09-Nov-17 08:43:54

I have always wanted to be able to sing. Even my GS(6) tells me to “be quiet now granny”.
Maybe I should start a choir for us out of tuners?

What sort of books though, Eglantine? wink

Chewbacca Wed 08-Nov-17 22:18:17

Yay! Worth waiting for! grin

Marydoll Wed 08-Nov-17 22:18:16

Lucky you, Eglantine ?

Eglantine21 Wed 08-Nov-17 22:17:15

Oh yes! At the age of 57!

Chewbacca Wed 08-Nov-17 21:40:42

I've just got to ask Eglantine..... did you get what you wished for? only being nosey

Eglantine21 Wed 08-Nov-17 21:32:37

I always wanted an amazing lover and the kind of experience that you read about in books........

ShropshireRose1 Wed 08-Nov-17 16:32:22

An AGA ... I waited 51 years and now I couldn't be without it!

vampirequeen Wed 08-Nov-17 09:29:57

I still haven't won the lottery sad

giulia Wed 08-Nov-17 04:52:51

NanaRayna I'm really happy for you!

princesspamma Wed 08-Nov-17 00:30:50

I am an only child. When I was young I desperately wanted an older brother who would stick up for me when I shot my mouth off! Oddly I never did get one!

Moocow Tue 07-Nov-17 23:40:09

Oh nanarayna how wonderful! Reading through all these postings I've remembered various things throughout my years but I'm similar to lilyflower in thinking twice and saving instead though in a much smaller way i think.

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-17 22:52:28

That was for NanaRayna
However, I would also settle for a Mazda Mx

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-17 22:51:23

Sounds idyllic.envy

Legs55 Tue 07-Nov-17 22:51:11

I always wanted an E-Type Jaguar, not practical now so I have to make do with the occasional outing in my (Male) friend's Mazda, how I manage to get in & out of it I'm not suregrin.

We went out the other weekend & the question was "top on or off"

NanaRayna Tue 07-Nov-17 22:07:14

I spent my life being bounced around at the mercy of circumstances (well who hasn't?) and always longed for a real home that I picked for myself and where I felt comfortable and safe. Well, I don't want to jinx it but am due to move at the weekend to my fairytale cottage in the woods, by the stream and with it's own workshop for me to potter away my days.
A dream come true! grin
