Chewbacca, I agree entirely. What is it with 'so' beginning every sentence? It's everywhere - TV presenters (Countryfile one of the worst offenders), authors, academics, schoolchildren, teachers.... I could go on for ever. Where did it come from? Is it an Americanism that has taken off over here? Will it ever go away? Or is it now in the English language for good? It annoys me SO much - see that's where it's meant to be - in the middle of a sentence, not at the beginning - Grrrrr!!

‘No problem’ really gets my hackles up. I was ordering something by phone recently and when I gave my name was told it, happily, wasn’t a problem. When challenged, the young man I was talking to admitted he had no idea WHICH name might have caused a problem.

‘hiya’ seems to be the preferred greeting in lots of places there now.?

I say ‘really?’ A lot but not in the modern way which seems to come from American fims.That kind of really seems to have an ! After it, whereas mine has ? After it.
Does that make sense?

My dear Mum used to exclaim "dear God" and we all thought something terrible had happened but it never had.
Mine is also "now then" GranEd, my DGD told me. I'm trying hard not to say it but it slips out.
My DD's is "really?" Especially when the DGC are misbehaving. Don't think she's aware of it.

Politicians preface their complex and ambiguous statements with 'clearly'. Its anything but.

I have a friend, who before sharing what she considers "juicy gossip" always commences with "now keep this to yourself, Another friend can't resist the word absolutely after every comment. As for me,(to be honest)-- I am perfect in every way.-- (wink)

“Don’t get me wrong.” Why do people say that? I wasn’t “getting” them, or judging them anyway, but I do find that one annoying. It’s often followed by “I love them to bits”.

Tbh is used a lot on here, tbh, as it’s common text speak. Like imo, or imho.

I loathe politicians peppering sentences with “Now look”. It sounds so patronising.

"Anyway" - that was a favourite expression of my dear Mum!

Apparently I often say Ahh Bless about something sad and my daughter tells me it’s irritating I also try not to call people guys but it’s just rolls of the tongue

Listening to a play on the radio, and I was struck by what a ridiculous greeting "how do you do?" is, especially considering the accepted response is to echo "how do you do?"

I suppose one could respond with "very well, thank you" but no one ever does.

Well hun, to be honest, at the end of the day, it's just the way things are what with all this blue sky thinking outside of the box so you'll just have to talk to the hand, if that makes sense ...period.

'Does that make sense' is one that grates me, after every sentence. My friend does this, we laugh now everytime she says it because she knows it drives me bonkers.
