If the above shop has lost their Royal Warrant, will HM now have to get her bras at M&S?

SueDonim Thu 11-Jan-18 23:13:15

Or Victoria's Secrets? grin

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 11-Jan-18 23:37:31

Definitely Victoria's Secrets! It's got a royal name! grin

What a dirty trick writing that book

BlueBelle Fri 12-Jan-18 05:08:37

Never heard of the shop I thought the title was about a comedy duo

Grandma70s Fri 12-Jan-18 06:14:20

I’ve heard of Rigby and Peller, because my DIL buys her bras there. When I mentioned to her that I’d never had a really well-fitting bra in my life, she said I ought to go there too. I haven’t, though.

The woman who wrote the book seems very naive about it. Obviously she is so caught up in the world of corsetry and lingerie that she doesn’t seem to realise these are quite intimate subjects. She shouldn’t have written about her clients, certainly not the Queen.

Huge error of judgment by the author.

I always have my bras fitted but by JL not Rigby and Pellet!!!

kittylester Fri 12-Jan-18 08:06:47

Bloody phone!

Rigby and Peller!!

Are they a London firm never seen them in any towns I ve lived in ?

Bathsheba Fri 12-Jan-18 08:51:50

Mostly London, BlueBelle, as a quick google search has revealed. Also Guildford, Bluewater, Harrogate and Cambridge.

Getting underwear from R & P is on my list of 60 things to do before I'm 60 (I've managed 30 odd so far and I'm 63 grin). I didn't know they had branches outside London. Perhaps I'll actually get on and do it now.

glammanana Fri 12-Jan-18 09:17:55

I have never had the good fortune to have underwear fitted there I do have a couple of friends who have been fitted and the word is that the lady fitters can tell you the size you need just by looking at you and that the product is so comfortable and well fitting you would never go anywhere else.(I wish)

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 09:23:46

Maggie if I win the lottery I will be booking an appointment too. grin

Anniebach Fri 12-Jan-18 09:25:07

Never heard of the company

gillybob Fri 12-Jan-18 09:29:37

How much for a 36C ?

I pay about £20 in Marksies.

Charleygirl Fri 12-Jan-18 09:30:05

A lovely idea but rather outside my price range.

She should never have written that book.

Teetime Fri 12-Jan-18 09:32:00

MY sister and I went to R & P some years ago to be fitted. It ws a very good experience and very stange as they fit you' by eye' no tape measures- amazingly accurate. The underwear is expensive but a wonderful fit and lasts and lasts. I wonder if HRH will go to Figleaves on line.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 09:37:33

The book does not talk about the clients. It's about June Kenton. The problem is that it mentions the Queen and the company's Royal warrant. That's frowned upon and a big no no to use them to sell something.

For as long as I can remember the London shop has been regarded as the place to go to be expertly fitted for underwear. It's appointment service is supposed to be second to none.

gillybob Fri 12-Jan-18 09:37:50

Her Maj probably has masses of bras and just doesn’t need any more.

Seriously does anyone know how much a 36C would cost (roughly) ? Nothing fancy just plain white or black with a bit of oooomph (underwiring).

Maggiemaybe Fri 12-Jan-18 09:42:54

Well, I got £25 on the premium bonds this month, Wilma, so there's a start. smile I suppose spending £80 on one bra that fits is more sensible than buying 20 Tesco and Asda ones in the sales that don't. Though of course I don't know anyone who'd do that. wink

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 09:43:26

gillybob a made to measure bra starts from £305, but it sells off the peg at much less. Still expensive though. Have a look

Rigby and Peller

Maggiemaybe Fri 12-Jan-18 09:45:33

I got my £80 from a review site, gillybob. That's the bare minimum, apparently.

gillybob Fri 12-Jan-18 09:46:17

Chokes on cup of tea...... £305 ?? What are they made from?

I would expect a full outfit including shoes and a bag for that price. shock

Maggiemaybe Fri 12-Jan-18 09:46:42

'Ow much????!!!! shock

Maggiemaybe Fri 12-Jan-18 09:47:12

I'm going to have to have a lie down.
