The one song that still moves you

For me, the one song that can always bring a lump to my throat is Eva Cassidy singing SONGBIRD. The first time I heard it, I was entering somebody's dining room with a group of people just behind me. This song was playing softly in the background and I literally stopped in my tracks and gasped. (Of course, everyone else bumped into me from behind!) What song does the same for you?

I love loads of songs but the one I can’t get enough of just now is Ed Sheehan singing “Perfect” with Andre Bocelli, when Andre sings it would make your toes curl and send a shiver down your back.

This Guy's in Love With You. My husband dedicated this to me when we got engaged, and it was always 'our song'. Sadly he left me a few years ago, so this song now hurts when I hear it.

So many recently. Even the US national anthem brought tears to my eyes recently and I'm not even American.

Cassandra - 'Your Song' is our song but I thought it was a bit cliched to put on here.

So many of these ring the same bells with me.
Often the tune rather than the words (eg Hotel California.)

Many of the above.

I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables,

You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Middler

Always Look on The Bright Side - Monty Python, played at a friend's funeral.

A friend at her husband's funeral played The Young Ones, Cliff Richard. She said it was the first record they had bought together and didn't know if it would be appropriate. I was finished when it came to the line 'Darling, one day we'll teach the young ones of our own', they have three lovely grown up daughters - the offspring of a long and very happy marriage.

Oh what a lovely thread! When I saw the title I thought 'oh yes I can think of a few' but now reading through, these are all wonderful and some very memorable for me. Petra I think I've heard that Neil Sedaka one, I will look it up. Someone mentioned The Fields of Athenry (apologies, I've scrolled through and can't find it now). We had this at my dad's funeral, sung by the Dubliners with Luke Kelly on lead vocals. In my humble opinion, Luke had one of the best voices I haveever heard. More songs are springing to mind now, Many of Matt Munro's - A Portrait of my Love, Softly as I leave you etc.
