On soop's behalf, I will post her usual welcome

Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain
As long as we're together...
Whoops we go again.

WELCOME. Make yourselves at home flowers

I think that I will have a quick supper before I am picked up because I do not want food poisoning at the cafe.

Jalima1108 Sun 18-Mar-18 18:40:26

[gasp] I will keep my eyes averted - will WB be wearing a gold medallion as well?

We have had plenty of snow here and today's lunch plans had to be cancelled. I hope it will be gone by tomorrow.

Charleygirl Sun 18-Mar-18 18:38:33

I have put my bins out in the snow- I was on the lookout for wobbly as he has not turned up yet to pick me up. I decided to get changed in 60's gear, the trousers are to die for - a pity my knees will not allow me to do the 60's jive. The spirit is willing but you will hear my Queen songs, it is too cold for people to rush outside when I start to sing.

lemongrove Sun 18-Mar-18 16:50:39

Thanks soop will you bake a stuffed sporran or something for us?
Sounds like wobbly will be looking a bit like Austin Powers grin yeah baby! Groovy!

soop Sun 18-Mar-18 16:40:55

Jalima Humour me! hmm Our lot are impressionable. That lot are well versed in ways most of us cannot begin imagine. However, as I've already said, Wobblybits may agree not only to collect our lot from the Caff but, rumour has it, he's considering donning his platform shoes, bell-bottoms and there's a chance he'll slick his hair into a DA with goose fat. His shirt will be open to the navel and he'll wear a chest wig. I dread to think what I may discover when I step gingerly across the kitchen threshold tomorrow morning. I'm filled with trepidation. wink

I've now completed all the portraits as gifts for the family. I shall ask MacSporran to photograph them tomorrow. You will then have the honour of praising my efforts...or not!

No snow! I trust that you will all remain safe and sound. I wish you a pleasant and peaceful evening. smile moon

Jalima1108 Sun 18-Mar-18 14:20:59

I don't know who does the chaperoning in there soop, they are all drunk as skunks as the saying goes
grin

lemongrove Sun 18-Mar-18 14:19:12

Anytime at all tonight folks, don’t be shy, roll up and give it all you’ve got, wear bling or 60’s gear or your nightie we don’t mind. You all fitted in well at the talent nite last time, and yes, the pies will be arriving ann although we need to keep both Marydoll and Jason the alsation clear of them,
As they get their snouts into everything.

soop Sun 18-Mar-18 12:50:20

Okay, you lot, I feel that the invite to attend the rough and tumble at the Argy Caff may well turn your heads. However, lemongrove and Marydoll have assured me that you will be chaperoned throughout the 'anky panky and I've nothing to fear. For your own welfare, I shall lay on a chara to wipe pick you up at the end of the evening. It's booked for a very reasonable hour...like, midnight. Wobblybits will be the chauffeur. Keep an eye on Ann. Should she get carried away and attempt to pole dance as she sings 'The only way is up' - she'll need some caring soul to stop her getting her bloomers in a twist. I of course will be lounging here at home in my jimjams and sipping a well-rounded red. I'll retire to my bed at 10:30 sharp. I need all the beauty sleep I can get.

soop Sun 18-Mar-18 12:33:09

Maw full marks for making a very wise decision. Nothing worse than flat Champagne! wink

NonnaW Sun 18-Mar-18 12:18:11

ann if you do go to the karaoke may I suggest you sing ‘I Will Survive’ as it sounds very much like your song. Could apply to an awful lot of Gransnetters lately. Maybe a group song?
flowers to all who need cheering up.

Charleygirl Sun 18-Mar-18 09:43:37

lemongrove If the snow stops falling, I will be there. Have you got sufficient earplugs because I will be singing Queen songs. Have you got diet coke or similar please? My ancient slippers should be fine for snow and ice and my dressing gown is cosy so that will be my attire. I will find a fetching nightdress, one which actually covers my rear end. You will be so enthralled with my voice that you will not be judgmental about my attire.

JaneD3 Sun 18-Mar-18 06:59:59

Ann, we resorted to paying a private occupational therapist to confirm the wheelchair we had to buy ourselves just to get Mum out of bed for a few more months last year. H&S wouldn’t allow her to be hoisted into a comfortable armchair! Anyone want to buy a tilt in space wheelchair?!

annsixty Sat 17-Mar-18 23:37:50

Maw somehow I missed your post, I may have been distracted by the offers from the Argy club which sounded beguiling.
I have various chairs, stools, which I have demonstrated will fit in the shower cubicle satisfactorily, one carer was happy to use , but her manager would not sanction due to " health and safety" even one just like they would supply, which I offered to buy would not do.
I cannot tell you how frustrated I am with SS which I feel has failed me totally.
I am a very resilient woman, I feel I would have gone under otherwise, I just know you were were the same with all you endured, far more than I have had to.

Marydoll Sat 17-Mar-18 23:15:35

PS. Soop doesn't need to know you have deserted the Kitchen, Anne. ?

Marydoll Sat 17-Mar-18 23:14:24

Hi Anne you certainly need a break.
Anything goes in the Argy and what goes on in the Argy, stays in the Argy. Otherwise some of us would be in serious trouble.
Wear what you like, we are non judgemental. We have to be. In fact if you have nothing to wear, don't worry. We will keep our eyes averted. ?

callgirl1 Sat 17-Mar-18 23:10:55

My sincere condolences Jane, and well done you for singing for your mum, she would have approved.
A lovely photo of a personable young man Soop.
I went into town at 1pm, could hardly see where I was going for snow billowing around, and it was bitterly cold. I only had one more shop to visit and I bumped into daughter 2 and her hubby. "Aha, I thought, I`ll get offered a lift home." Turned out they`d walked up!

annsixty Sat 17-Mar-18 23:08:29

We have a couple of inches of snow here although we were told it would not reach us.
I could well do with a trip to the Argy Bargy , I would do well at Karioke if singing ability is ignored and a bottle or two is on tap.
Are sequins and sixties gear obligatory, otherwise I an sunk?
What time do the pies arrive ?
That is a 70's "in joke" sorry if it goes over your head.

Marydoll Sat 17-Mar-18 21:59:35

Merlot has volunteered to bring a case of wine.???????

lemongrove Sat 17-Mar-18 21:54:37

If Soop or anyone else wants to sashay into the Argy on Sunday evening, we are having a karaoke night!
We understand if the snow is too deep and you can’t get there.I am actually living there at the moment, keeping the fire in the bar going and deep frying mars bars ( which I bought at great expense from my own pocket.)Marydoll ate all the ones we had stashed.
Barry is running the karaoke and you can have any song
you like, he says, however bizarre.
We have Guinness on tap, poteen out the back and a Nespresso machine.
No cheques accepted or credit cards, cash only.wink

Charleygirl Sat 17-Mar-18 21:43:02

soop my apologies- definitely a senior moment. I knew perfectly well that he was your GS.

Maw that was a lovely day- you can enjoy the remainder of the champagne with Hattie beside you.

Ann I agree with Maw please do not take on more than you can cope with- I am well aware how difficult it is.

MawBroon Sat 17-Mar-18 21:14:13

Do you or anybody you know have a plastic garden chair, Annsixty?
We used one for a time as a shower seat and it works “quite” well if needs must.
It sounds as if you have worked out a sort of modus vivendi which is good, but don’t take on more than you can cope with, will you?

cornergran Sat 17-Mar-18 21:07:42

I’m in awe of your resilience ann. Sleep well.

annsixty Sat 17-Mar-18 21:03:57

Not much sense from me either. Very confused day but I am now used to it. SS are useless in my case, shower stool still not delivered, I have now told carers to come every other day, I will cope.
My S and I have had a long discussion and will do all we can with help to keep him at home.
I am happy with what is in place.
He wanted his pyjamas on at 2: 30 pm but was happy with the outcome which was to delay it until 7:30 pm.
I am now in bed feeling more settled.
A good night to you all, may your own concerns be small ones and easily solved.

Greyduster Sat 17-Mar-18 19:59:11

You’ll always be Pompa to some of us!

Wobblybits Sat 17-Mar-18 19:27:26

I'm still Pompa to the GC.
For those not in the know. I used to be Pompa (this is a traditional name for Granddads in our family, been that way for several generations). A while ago I upset some Gners with my humour (or lack of it) and was forced to change my name. I chose WB's, because I use to drive a Day Center bus and along one particularly bad unmade lane, I use to call out "hang on to your wobbly bits !) Although given the state of the lanes around our way, I would be saying it repeatedly.
