Maw
Wellcome to those of us in our eighth decade. You may now officially call yourself adult.
This is a very exclusive club!
You are now supposed to age disgracefully.
Back to work for me tomorrow. A fairly easy day fortunately
soop, you must be concerned about your GS. I hope you didn't have a sleepless night. Agus, GC are in so much hurry to enter their teens! I have two teenagers, 15 and 13 and one about to be. That last one is clearly pubescent and typically moody, whereas the first two romped through that phase. Never make predictions!
Oh soop what a fright you must have got when you heard about your grandson. I know you won’t relax until you hear some positive news which I hope you hear today. Take care.
Pleased to hear more positives for you Ann. Your last paragraph rang true, we are not of an age to squander time. Hope things continue to stay on the up for you.
Good news Galen just don’t rush things. We wouldn’t want you back at square one.
Happy Birthday Maw A bittersweet day for you but your lovely DDs are there for you.
Happy birthday wishes to your GS and SiL kitty. Oh to be 37 again and have the energy I had then
. 11 yrs old is well into double figures according to our GD1 who will be 13 this year and can’t wait to become a teenager
Birthday greetings Maw.
Sorry to hear about your GS soop, very worrying for you, hope it is sorted quickly.
Thank you fo the sentiments Annsixty
OT at your hospital should have arranged the stair handrail as soon as he came home (I think it’s called something like a “mop stick”) along with grab rails e.g at doorways and in the shower. I recommend a shower chair rather than a stool if your OH is at all unsteady on his feet.
I hated the handrail at first as it replaced a very elegant green rope affair we had which matched the wall paper but was of course entirely useless. Once I had stained the new one with Oak BriWax it looked much less like a care home and now I no longer notice it! It was strong enough to take Paw weight holding on to both sides. He found it a struggle but was adamant he didn’t want a stairlift so he coped.
So glad things are at least partially improving for your OH
Sometimes these crises are almost what we need to assess the situation and put things in place.
soop I do hope that young man is okay.
Maw happy birthday- you are not my age yet but rapidly catching up.
I was only up to the loo once during the night because I was skating all night long.
The sun is peeping through- I must throw on some clothes and go out.
Paw will be looking down on you Maw and telling you to enjoy your day, he certainly won't be wanting you to not to.
Your DD' s will make sure you are cherished.
It was very bright here earlier on, but even as I type it is clouding up.
I send my very best wishes to your GS soop for a speedy diagnosis and recovery.
Physically things are on the upward path here, my H is gaining strength every day, he can get out of bed and out of his chair unaided, walking very well with his wheeled walker and the continence is improving.
His confusion isn't going to improve but that was a given, his anxiety which seemed to lessen is back in spades but every change brings that on and this of course was a huge change for him.
We should be getting a shower stool today and a joiner to look at the practicalities of a stair rail although personally I can't see him gong upstairs for a while yet.
Although I don't really want a permanent bedroom in the dining room ,the risk of him falling downstairs fills me with dread.
Can I just emphasise as I have on this and other threads many times, get out and enjoy life as much as you are able, take all the holidays you can.
To slightly change the saying, nobody ever says at the end of their life, I wish I hadn't enjoyed myself so much.
Good morning Kitcheners!
Well I made it and here I go into the swinging seventies(?)
My thought for the day. Plus Paw because he is always with me.
I should just mention that today is also the birthday of DGS1 who is 11 and my favourite African son in law who is 37!
Happy Birthday Maw! We will all be thinking of you. I am going to buy the paint for the kitchen today, to prod myself into starting the decorating! It’s all the prep I hate in the kitchen which is not the finest example of my housekeeping!
All good wishes for your birthday maw. I’ll be joining you in the decade in a few months. We were born in a very special year
.
Many happy returns Maw, another 'first' but I'm sure your family will make you feel special.
Soop, what a worry for you all. I hope the medics get an idea of what is wrong soon. It's much easier to deal with something when we know what it actually is. Please keep us updated.
jane, what a shock for your poor daughter! I would hold off offering help for a while.
Please look after yourself Galen!
I must get going as I have a shingles jab booked and then a Carer's course to help on. We had one carer so upset last week that I had my work cut out to stop her running away. I imagine our Ann, and no doubt others, know that feeling well.
I do hope that you enjoy your time with your DDs Maw - are you going to the exhibition of Charles I's paintings?
Love it, Jalima.
Many Happy Returns of tomorrow Maw and welcome to the decade!
Soop your poor grandson. I do hope he’s being treated for whatever it might be and that they can make a quick diagnosis. Worrying for you all.
Sending good wishes to your grandson, soop and I hope he's soon on the road to recovery.
Love it callgirl!
I am totally unfussed about the number I shall turn in 44 minutes, but because I have felt very emotional over the Mothers Day/DD’sbirthday weekend I am dreading how I might feel tomorrow.
So I started on my cards tonight, and so far, so good!
It didn`t come up very big, sorry.
Soop I am so sorry to hear about your son. Let’s hope they get a handle on it quickly. ??
Wishing your grandson well, soop, yes, please try not to worry too much, he is being cared for now.
That is alarming Soop I hope your grandson both feels much better soon and that there is a speedy diagnosis and course of treatment.
Wishing him well and I don’t suppose there is much point in saying this, but try not to worry
Maw We are here for you. We care.
Sorry to be seen to be neglecting you lot but I've been busy on the phone for what seems like an entire day. Our grandson (mid twenties) was unable to get out of bed yesterday. He's usually as fit as the proverbial flea. Always busy travelling and doing all manner of sporting activities. Taken to hospital. Confined to a trolley for twenty two hours. Now has a bed. Could be gallstones/kidney stones/infection. Has been nil by mouth for so long he feels faint. Anyway, I've been phoning family members and we're all hoping for some positive news asap.
I shall update you tomorrow once I return from care home visit.
