Which room first?

I always go to the kitchen and put the kettle on (have been called a 'tea belly'!) but I generally go to the sitting room and this is where most guests go.
Before I downsized I would have sat in the sunny kitchen as it was big enough to take a table and three chairs - I really miss that kitchen.

Definitely kitchen, fortunately ours is big enough for a table and 4 chairs.

Mr P and I don't even bother to go through to the sitting room until around 7.30 pm

Well if DS is home it's in the side door as it will be unlocked, through the lobby to the kitchen (which is a fair size but not enough room for a table) then into the dining end of the through room which runs the width of the back of the house, dumping keys, bag, coat and anything else on the dining table through to the lounge end and flop !
If no one home, in the front door, deposit everything in the hall and then flop in the lounge.
Any visitors would be shown to the lounge.

Both my sons, all 3 sons in law and both DH's brothers go in to the loo first.

Luckily, it's right by the front door or I'd worry for my carpets!!

Kitchen, Kettle on quick visit to the smallest room

If sunny day like today then straight into conservatory.
If its wet and cold or night time then kettle on and into a cosy sitting room with the fire on.
Ditto with guests.

After a shopping expedition its usually straight upstairs with the evidence bags,
minimise DH heart going all of a flutter

However today I have just made a detour to the utility to empty and reload washing machine before settling down in the conservatory with and GN on pad.

Always the kitchen. Kettle on and then sit around the table with a brew

At least nobody's said yet that they head straight for the toilet (without the guests, of course!).

Kitchen to dump my stuff and then feet up on the sofa that's falling to bits in the front room but is soooo comfy.
Visitors I tend to start in the kitchen and migrate to the sitting room which is generally the tidiest!!!

To the back door whilst I say to the dog "do you want to go into the back garden?" then I stand back to avoid the headlong gallop.If any human is with me they answer "no thanks I'm all right" as they put the kettle on.

Somebody told me that it was bad luck to go into one door and immediately open the other, but I am not superstitious.
Apparently it's fine if you sit down in that room even if only for a few seconds shysal

Our kitchen/diner/siting room is now open plan so it's straight to the kettle, having said hello to the dogs then if DH has lit the woodburner I curl up on the sofa with a cuppa.

Visitors plonk themselves wherever they like

I usually head straight for the utility room to let the dog out, pausing in the kitchen to flick the kettle on as I go past. Then, with a cup of tea in hand we head for the living room and settle down, me in my chair and the dog on his comfy bed.

Visitors have been known to let themselves in by the back door and appear, having made tea, in my living room, but usually they're ushered into the front room. All of my friends know their way around my kitchen and often tell me to go and sit whilst they make drinks.

Our kitchen is too tiny for stopping in..its purely functional.

We would take visitors through to the orangery ( which is nearly finished, its bright, airy and has comfy chairs and a beautiful view.

My flats main room is a big open plan space. Living room to the left with patio doors to a balcony and kitchen/diner to the right so guests are ushered in to sit on a sofa and then can see me making them a drink at the other end of the room. Best of both worlds.

I go straight to the living room and take visitors there. My kitchen is too small for guests.

My kitchen thermometer is showing 8 degrees so definitely not the kitchen so always my main room ( living room, front room, lounge call it what you may) gas fire on and turned up for first five minutes then cosy can face anything after that first five minutes
Any guests or family straight into my warm room even in Summer I have never been a kitchen entertainer

When its warm its the conservatory or the garden otherwise its the living room/dining room - kitchen is too small to squish into and no room for a table.

Straight through to the bedroom and take off coat and day clothes to change into PJs (always nice ones) and anyone can call then and be entertained to a & in the kitchen.

I only have living room and tiny kitchen downstairs so guests have no choice. In the summer it is straight into the garden.

Usually head straight through the living/dining room to the kitchen to put the kettle on and then to my desk to check my work mail - sadly we don't have visitors.

NOT encouraged!

Kitchen to make a drink of some sort usually and then the living room. Visitors and family seem to make straight for the conservatory, via the kitchen (where they are it encouraged to hang around!).

I have to walk through the front room (or lounge if you prefer) to get to the kitchen/diner, so usually plonk on the sofa first to sort myself out.

Straight to the front room and my seat on the sofa. DH is in charge of hot beverages, so no diversion to the kitchen necessary.

I’ve got a squishy sofa in my dining room (sitting room upstairs so not always ideal for visitors ) so any visitor can relax in the dining room and talk to Alexa while I prepare a cuppa or a glass of wine in the next room.
