Noogah always

MrsAllboys Mon 12-Mar-18 02:42:34

Always called it noogar. Never eat it though as I don’t like it!

MissAdventure Mon 12-Mar-18 00:41:19

I'm glad I don't eat it, because I'd feel silly asking for noogah. blush

Eloethan Mon 12-Mar-18 00:24:07

I'm aware it's not correct, but I call it nugget too.

In the old days, the word homage used to be pronounced homidge but now most people give it the French pronunciation, at least when talking about films.

It were all them elocution lessons at school wot dun it

Oopsadaisy12 Sun 11-Mar-18 23:10:37

Aren’t we lucky to have outgrown our common ways??

Jalima1108 Sun 11-Mar-18 23:08:24

When I was a child I, along with everyone else I knew, pronounced it 'nugget'

Now I am older and posher or since I learnt French I pronounce it noogah.

Skonn
Neslay
Boodika

Charleygirl Sun 11-Mar-18 22:29:35

Nugget

janeainsworth Sun 11-Mar-18 22:11:17

Nugget, scone, skedule, garridge, olmand.

Mapleleaf Sun 11-Mar-18 22:06:07

The French pronounciation.

Bathsheba Sun 11-Mar-18 21:52:24

Noo-gah. But yes, as a child it was always nugget, and I really have no memory of when I switched.
And it was Nestles, not Nesslay. Scone to rhyme with cone.

Auntieflo Sun 11-Mar-18 21:33:19

Nugget and skon here!!! smile. DH doesn't care, so long as we buy the nugget.

FarNorth Sun 11-Mar-18 21:27:42

If Scone is a place name, it rhymes with Broon.

FarNorth Sun 11-Mar-18 21:26:59

I know it's Noogaa, but I would still say Nuggat.

MawBroon Sun 11-Mar-18 21:13:04

Oh dear, Noo - ga and Scone to rhyme with “gone” hmm

Grannybags Sun 11-Mar-18 21:06:00

Nugget. I also say scone as in cone, not gone.

TerriBull Sun 11-Mar-18 20:08:29

It's French so Noo ga

Cherrytree59 Sun 11-Mar-18 19:59:20

I must be gender confectionary fluid,

I don't actually like nougat and so if my memory is correct have never had call to buy any.

As a child I would have said nugget, now as I am having to think about it I'm not sure,
It is possible that I would say noo gah confused

MissAdventure Sun 11-Mar-18 19:46:46

I'm sure it was called nugget on adverts years ago, then suddenly it was 'nooogaah'

BlueBelle Sun 11-Mar-18 19:36:21

Oh yes and bo der cea not bodiker

BlueBelle Sun 11-Mar-18 19:34:31

Nugget
Skedule
Nestles
Armand not al-Mand
Porch not porcher

pensionpat Sun 11-Mar-18 19:26:30

Yes what's with Nestlay! There was an advert with a song which went

Nestles Cream
Real cream
What a dream
Nestles cream

annsixty Sun 11-Mar-18 19:17:04

Noogar.

Oopsadaisy12 Sun 11-Mar-18 19:16:57

It’s a bit like Nestles and Nestlay!!

Oopsadaisy12 Sun 11-Mar-18 19:16:34

When I was very young and common I said Nugget, now I are growed up and not so very common I say Noooogaaaaa.
