My wedding ring is a plain 18ct gold band that cost £4.50 in 1963. Apart from going to be enlarged about 9 or 10 years ago, it hasn`t been off my finger for nearly 55 years. After 23 years of marriage my husband bought me a half eternity ring, which split at the back about 2 weeks before he died, he told me to get it repaired, which I did, got it back just before he died. It`s just split again, my daughters said not to bother, but I know that my husband would want me to have it mended, so it`s at the jewellers again. He never had a wedding ring, partly because it would have been dangerous in his job, and also because he thought that men who wore jewellery were "cissies"!
