Beards; yea or nay?

I don't mind beards really, though I prefer a full beard & moustache to designer stubble or a goatee. My husband has a beard & moustache which is kept neatly trimmed and combed. He was clean shaven when we met but grew the beard when his work involved very early morning starts. That was over 20 years ago and I couldn't imagine him without it now.

I've never been interested in men with facial hair OR hairy chests/ backs/shoulders etc OR shaven heads, piercings, tatts under any circumstances.
A big no-no.

Why do some shave their heads yet cover the lower parts of their face with masses of hair.?

On the whole I really like neat beards so long as they are well maintained. Occasionally, I see a man with one which really does not suit his face. Husband tried growing one about 20 years ago but didn’t grow at all well and was very patchy (unfortunately).

DS and a number of his friends I have known since preschool have all grown full beards . I like them but they all look like clones . SiL also has one and DS and he have been mistaken for brothers .DH has tried a couple of times but it isn't thick enough to hide the odd bare patch, looks awful . Strange because he still has a full head of thick hair at 71 !

Whatever floats your boat. Beards do change a persons looks and were I attracted to a man who had a beard it would have been by his personality, looks change, but personality rarely does. However I would liked to have see the person minus foliage.

Not many men are improved by beards. Don't like those long bushy things the young men have these days. The most attractive length of hair in men for me was the Beatle cut.

I don't think beards suit some women that I know.

Love cared-for beards. DH had one when younger and it looked good, though kissing a moustache was a bit weird.
My SIL has grown one recently and keeps it trimmed and neat. It looks good.
Specially grown and trimmed moustaches are fun.
Some men put as much effort into keeping their facial hair clean, neat and well trimmed as they do their hair, long or short. Some don’t pay much attention to the state of either.
I hate messy facial hair-it always makes me think of Mr Twit and the food cache he had in his beard. Yuk!

I don’t like beards or moustaches. I was fascinated and repelled by my father’s moustache, coloured by heavy smoking for most of his cut short life and never liked my ex’s moustache and beard, or the clippings round the bathroom sink that he couldn’t be bothered to wipe up.
Weirdest of all is the Australian fondness for bald/shaved heads with long straggly facial hair. ?

Like to see men with beards while they are still a natural colour. Not so these "hipster beards" which are often more often grey/ white and I think are somewhat scruffy looking and don"t suit a lot of men.

Yay for beards. My husband shaved it off once and I have to say he looked like a skinned rabbit yuk. I have made a concession though that in the summer he likes to trim it back to a goatie and I'm OK with that ?

My DH has always had a beard and I've never seen him beardless until I took him to the barbers in town for a haircut and a trim (DD usually does it but was busy). Well he looked just awful! By the time she had finished hacking at it there was hardly any left. It has all grown back to the Father Christmas look now and I'm waiting for DD to come and see to it.

DH had a (well-groomed) beard when we met & he retained this into our marriage. He looked handsome and I always liked it. Twelve years later, he decided to shave it off, the day before we went on holiday. Wow, what a surprise! An equally handsome, but now clean-shaven man, emerged! It felt wickedly like going on holiday with another, younger, man! (Great holiday!) Now another 27 years have passed and he says he'll never grow it back I'm glad to know this - it would now be grey....

Don't like them and the fuller they are the more I dislike them. Always think they age blokes, most look much younger without facial hair.
Designer stubble, no. Just looks as if your too lazy to shave it off. My OH just looks scruffy if he doesn't shave for a couple of days.

There always seemed to be a lot of beardy men in Scotland, when I was a regular visitor.

my OH has had a beard since he was 17 ..he's early 60's now.I love it he looks fab even with a hint of grey through it now.My son grew one about 5 years ago and has kept it he has a very young face without it and was always being asked for ID ,no problems now though .I always liked beards its not a fashion here its just how my men are .

How shallow some can be it’s not the beard you talk to it’s the person behind it. My GP who has a very nice beard told me he thinks pubic hair is unhealthy.

I’m not generally a fan of beards, but last night on TV I saw a policeman who had the most divine set of facial furniture!
He was a tall, good looking lad, and his hair was that luscious light chestnut with hints of red. His beard was very full, but immaculately trimmed and neat, and he looked totally grabbable!
(Is that a word? It is now, and it’s MINE!)

I read somewhere years ago that 80% of women are not keen on beards. I was one of them, and when my husband grew a beard in his thirties I was really not keen because a) I thought it hid his good looks! b) it was extremely scratchy when he kissed me.

Now my son has a beard. It is soft, not scratchy, and he keeps it well trimmed. I can put up with it. And it doesn't appear to have put off his girlfriend. Which is probably the main thing.

Me too. I have to stop myself from doing a 'double take' if I spot a particularly lovely beard.
