Child home alone

12 hours seems a long time, but I used to leave my 12 year old for 3 hours or so.
The law is quite vague about leaving children, I think, so its open to interpretation.

Leaving a 12yr old alone every day for 12 hours while at work? Every day.

Apparantley it is fine.

Have I lost touch with this mad world.

There is a thread on mumsnet discussing how old a child should be to leave at home alone for 12 hours.

There are 10yr olds being left alone. Young children relying on pizza delivery (ordered by mum ) for meals whilst left home alone all day.

How worrying is this type of attitude to childcare?
