My DD, a graduate, lost her job early last year after working for the same firm for twenty five years. She was forty six. The two directors decided to retire and simply shut the firm down. Being out of work was a shock to her system. She had only ever worked her way up in that company and had never even had to sit an interview, so that was all new! She registered with agencies which, to be honest, weren’t particularly helpful, and simply buckled down and trawled the job sites. It took her a little over a year, during which time she did temporary work and voluntary jobs to build up her CV, and then managed to get a good job in the NHS. Please don’t despair. You are not old and there will be another job out there for you. Good luck.
