I’ve had an email from Galaxy, I’ve won a bag of Minstrels on their Sweetstake World Cup thingy. Woohoo, this tournament just gets better- England through to next stage, Germany packing their bags to go home, and now free chocolate!

Farview; is this true? I know Belgium won and I've yet to catch up with with my TV recording, but I do hope that both teams gave it their utmost and that this comes across in the replay. Otherwise it won't be worth watching.

I thought it was a very boring match last night . Neither team seemed to be playing to win rufus2 and even a 0-0 draw would have meant England went to the top of the group( on amount of yellow cards given ) which they didn’t want and given they were through anyway they had little to play for . Very disappointing game .

There's no football on today and WImbledon doesn't start until Monday......what are we going to do?

Far from watching only England matches as I said to begin with I have watched practically all of them. What shocks and surprises this World Cup is throwing up, it has been wonderful so far. Brilliant game last night, really thought Japan were going to do it. I will say nothing about tonight’s match as it may snooker it. (Will really miss the footy when it’s over. Don’t watch tennis, will have to find a new hobby).

Not really involved but keeping an eye on things.
I'm impressed by Gareth Southgate and think he has brought something that has been lacking (and I don't mean the waistcoat).
There is a sense of purpose and enthusiasm but, without the focus on Wags and less emphasis on cash, there is a more dignified attitude in this young team.
Southgate and Kane are calm and articulate in interviews and there's less yobbish ranting from press and pundits.
If fans can keep up this level of enthusiastic support without descending into xenophobia I 'll be happy to see England do well. If they actually win that might change!
So as a Scot with no real interest in football, I wish them well!

It will be a tough match tonight according to Mr L, but we, and assorted family including teenage DGS will be cheering England on and slurping Pimms.

I have lost my bet. I had my money on Japan but that was cocked up literally in the last few ' seconds ' last night.

What a cracking game between Belgium and Japan. None of the silly rolling around on the floor, cheating good honest football .

Definitely watching England tonight and a lot will depend on the quality of the refereeing. Columbia will possibly spend as much time on the ground looking to see if they have gotten away with trying to get a penalty or players sent off.

I really thought Japan had it in the bag last night and was so disappointed for them to lose in the dying seconds of the game . I am very impressed with how the young England are conducting themselves and as mcem said ( for a change) there has been little focus on the WAGS.
It does worry me that Columbia will be up to the usual tricks of the South American teams though .

I was shocked to read that a young Messi/Argentinian fan has apparently committed suicide because they got knocked out.

The South Americans take their football very seriously Jalima. Apparently a few years back a Colombian player who somehow screwed up Colombia’s chances of winning a World Cup match was murdered. ( Has probably made sure that all the Colombian players play to win!)

The World Cup is fabulous.
My sister and I spent last Saturday afternoon at IKEA at Batley.
Loads of parking, space in the restaurant and no queues at the check out.
Perfect, why can’t football just run and run? ⚽️

I think it’s fabulous too Pamela but I’m thoroughly enjoying watching it,there again I hate shopping anyway . Not sure I would want it to run and run though as it might get a bit boring after a while .
