ChaosIncorporated Tue 28-Aug-18 14:21:37

In haste.
Vets have said all went well, and I can collect Lola at 3.
I am sure all those good wishes helped!
Will catch up tomorrow.

annsixty Tue 28-Aug-18 14:18:26

Please soop ask Teddy's parents to photograph him with no shadows on his face.
My first thought was that he had toppled over on to his face while showing off his sitting up skills.

soop Tue 28-Aug-18 13:44:32

For Teddy's fan club. Another photo to show that he's in the rudest of health. grin

soop Tue 28-Aug-18 13:31:27

I am so very sorry for all of my Granspals who are yet again going through a very difficult and trying time. I wish that I could hug each and every one of you.

Not long returned from the care home visit. It was a mixture of some laughter and as many tears. Always return home feeling that I would like to do better for them. the carers are beyond wonderful. Where do they find a seeming supply of unlimited patience?

I shall return. I just need a wee and some coffee and a wee rest.

MawBroon Tue 28-Aug-18 13:11:15

This is dreadful Annsixty. Words almost fail me, I know how bad it can be, but for Paw it was only (?) the last few months that were so dreadful.
He was fitted with a catheter when in hospital and I admit I was in no hurry for it to be removed as that was one problem less.
Selfish? Maybe, but no way could he have ever got to the loo in time.
If your DH has infections in more than one place I do wonder if stronger AB’s are not needed?
All I can offer is sympathy and support from a distance . xx

annodomini Tue 28-Aug-18 12:58:39

OMG ann. What next? And how much more can you take? Thinking of you, but that doesn't do much good, does it? ((((hugs))))

kittylester Tue 28-Aug-18 12:45:45

I have just popped in with a view to at least trying to keep up - some hope.

But, before I pop back out again I must just say 'flipping heck' Ann what a lot you have going on. Please take care of yourself.

I'm sorry for people who have distant worries - they are not that of course, the greater distance makes things much worse.

I'm off to do my Alzheimer's thing now and will try to come back afterwards but, in the meantime, please, all of you, sit down, have brew and don't do anything dangerous!!

Bellanonna Tue 28-Aug-18 12:38:08

Me too Ann

Panache Tue 28-Aug-18 12:36:52

Ann we think we have issues until you remind us how things could be so much worse...........feeling for you......and so very helpless at only sending a few words ...........but they really do come from my heart with a virtual hug .

Greyduster Tue 28-Aug-18 12:29:56

Second that, Ann. ?

cornergran Tue 28-Aug-18 12:21:33

Oh blimey ann, that really isn't good. Look after yourself as best you can. flowers and if it helps later wine

aggie Tue 28-Aug-18 12:15:25

Oh Ann what a lot you have to put up with ! flowers

annsixty Tue 28-Aug-18 11:58:40

Another tale of woe, to add to the others already posted.
Commiserations to those who have lost friends, it is a reminder of our own age, and to those not well , best wishes.
We are just back from th GP, my H is not well.
He has an infected big toe, an infected knee and a urine infection.
He fell in the early hours of this morning, waking me with the crash, I ran downstairs and he was on the floor. I managed to get him up but he and his bed were both soaked so I had that to deal with.
We have been referred to the falls service. As well as his usual meds he is on two antibiotics. I gave him them as soon as we came home with instructions not to eat for one hour, as I get the meals I thought I was safe, oh no, he came into the lounge five minutes later stuffing chocolate biscuits in his mouth.
It is amazing how he can get about when he wants!!

Bellanonna Tue 28-Aug-18 11:03:24

Panache I’m so sorry to read the latest about your friend in Australia. She will be pleased to have your support from afar. Please look after yourself too!

annodomini Tue 28-Aug-18 10:56:22

Panache, it is hard to be so far from a friend who is suffering and needs support. I had a talk with my sister in NZ last night. She is moving (downsizing) on Friday and is sounding very frazzled and in addition has had a fall while moving some garden furniture. Wasn't watching her feet and got an enormous bruise - she has always bruised easily. She has a son and friends in the same city but they can't be around all the time. I really don't know why a 75-year-old woman who has recently had a heart problem can be daft enough to shift items which the movers could easily do when they come. And she's a doctor, forsooth!

Greyduster Tue 28-Aug-18 10:30:25

I agree. It is always hard when we are not near enough to help. We have a family difficulty at the moment which is centred around that very problem. However, my friend is only fifteen minutes drive away and I asked why she had not called me because I would have been there like a shot, but then, she didn’t tell her family either confused!
Panache I hope your friend is as comfortable as they can make her - as you say, she may have a hard road to travel.

cornergran Tue 28-Aug-18 10:27:41

Lola will appreciate that bed chaos. She will be able to stretch out and relax. Please let us know how she is.

Equilibrium is returning here. Thank you all for your kindness I hope I didn’t sound too dramatic, there’s a far bigger impact on other people who we will do our best to support, we’re on the periphery.

Your friend sounds very resilient greyd, perhaps aptly one of gaga’s creaking gates. A saying I heard as a child as well. Comforting when I think of the noise from the creaks here. smile.

Your friend has achieved the first step panache, a good omen for the rest of her struggle. Step at a time. You sound to have had a really poorly weekend, don’t push yourself today, gently does it.

Right, I’m off to do some therapeutic sorting out. Mr C is washing the car to try to find out what colour it really is. We decided we deserved lunch out so that will follow.

ChaosIncorporated Tue 28-Aug-18 09:51:48

I am sorry.....I thought we had stopped at the end of page 17, and only saw todays posts after I posted.

corner .... flowers
And [cake]

panache ...I am so sorry that you have such worries a out a friend who is so far away. It always so hard when there is nothing we can do to help.

greyd ...your friend is lucky to have you close by. As you say, a great concern when living alone

Panache Tue 28-Aug-18 09:46:02

Best wishes to Lola Chaos...........I am sure you will make her very comfortable ...........

Just had a message sent back from this Hospital in Australia,my dear friend has had an upper right lobectomy to remove her cancer............and is extremely weak.
She does not realise this is the firs part of many stages poor soul........a big call at 81 years of age.
At least I now have contact and can do my bit from here.

ChaosIncorporated Tue 28-Aug-18 09:41:15

It is Lola, corner
I popped into the pet shop and invested in a large new, flat, soft bed for her to stretch out on when she gets home.
Looking at it now, it would probably accommodate a baby elephant!

Panache Tue 28-Aug-18 09:37:27

Time I showed my face..........

I dare not take a back seat for a few hours as I am overwhelmed by your stories and I have to say............... put together what a Soap Opera The kitchen would make!!!

What a miserable lying low weekend I have had, so thank goodness you have brought much light and life into my world!.........whilst Soop I await with tenderhooks!!!

Whilst what a “Bobbydazzler” is young Teddy..........a real handful I am sure! I too spot a darkness around one of his bootiful eyes!

Have met before on another of your brief visits Eilyann, with such a pretty name I would not forget!

Oh Nonna I wish I could be as laid back as you are about your move, off to sunny Spain putting it all on the back burner before returning to put all shoulders in to the great move.Happy holiday first!

Happy kit making Chaos sounds as if your lot know exactly which buttons to press!!!........at least I am spared that.....and I need to be thankfull for small mercies!Fingers well crossed for your “Wobbly concerns” and hope your daughter will be just fine.

Who was it that said the dreaded C word? Surely not you Callgirl??........I would cheerful ban it .................along with that game Annodomini

Charley I am soooo pleased to read some one else gets tired listening to the “always on the go” ladies here in this kitchen...........where do they get ALL this time from I ask?

Certainly true about at this age we all take things in, mulling them over and they weigh far more heavily on us .

Thinking of your opening few sentences Corner and we can all understand so completely.Death has this effect very often, although naturally feeling a sense of loss and sorry when that person has had a long and difficult struggle, death has to be a relief.
Not a nice message first thing for you though.

Understanding how you feel too Greyd when your friend with Osterporosis has fallen......a case of what might have been.... it is such a sobering thought.

I have a dear older friend whom was undergoing an `op to take a biopsy of her lung last Thursday.......a more usual biopsy had not shown up clear results.......she had been warned that were it cancer, they would go ahead and remove all or part of the one lung.
This lady is entirely alone living in Australia...........Impossable as yet to get some answers so again I am in a rather sombre mood.

Thankfully that soon changes when entering our Soop`s domain............her spirit lives on even whemn she is busy elsewhere!

Have a great week and yes plenty more of your colourful tales!!!

Greyduster Tue 28-Aug-18 08:56:39

That’s sad for you, Corner ?. I agree with you about the precariousness of life, and how things can change when you least expect it. It preys on my mind too. My oldest friend rang me last night and dropped into the conversation that she had had a fall. She is eighty, not well, and suffers from osteoporosis. She lives alone. Fortunately she was more shocked than injured, and says she has suffered no lasting effects, but it could have been so much worse, and I found it very sobering. She deals so well with a debilitating illness that you never tend to think of anything else felling her.

Gaga my mother used to say that too!

Gagagran Tue 28-Aug-18 08:47:20

I know what you mean about the precariousness of life corner.

I was pondering on that very thing when I had a wakeful hour in the night, fearing that I was about to get a gastritis flare up. (I didn't in fact - think it was trapped wind!)

It's always easier to be optimisitc in daylight and this morning, after eventually falling asleep again, I am minded to recall one of my Mum's sayings - "Creaking gates last longest". So on we go, dealing with things as they crop up and keeping positive.

Hope you feel better as the day goes on corner . flowers

cornergran Tue 28-Aug-18 08:19:55

Seems a wobbly morning. Just heard about the death of a long poorly member of our extended family. It’s a sort of relief to know he’s finally without pain and struggle but it’s made me think about the precariousness of life. Not the morning we anticipated.
