Any ideas how to do this, unfortunately sat on a park bench without looking and have gum stuck on my fav trousers.Have tried putting item in freezer which helped to chip away some, but there is a white mark left in the fabric!!!

You can’t beat Stain Devils. Not the generic one but the one that is specifically for Glue and Chewing Gum.

“Sticky stuff remover” is wonderful travelsafar Scrape off as much as you can first ( it’s easier if you can put your trousers in the freezer for a while and the gum will harden) then dab/ rub in circular motion with SSR . It’s worked for me a few times .
