In the days before British Gas was privatised, they would stop all advertising when situations like this arose so that they did not encourage people to use them when they were already under strain.

I wish someone would tell BG to research before paying a fortune for adverts. Penguins don't need a boiler or a gas fire. Those penguins from warmer climates have evolved ways or make adjustments to their behaviour to cope with the warmth and stay cool.
Watching a dancing penguin and hearing "If you're with British Gas we're there for you" is annoying when they say they haven't enough engineers to to carry out service appointments at this time of year, so cancel them or reschedule them over 2 months later.
They've spent a fortune on advertising with a dancing penguin but haven't enough engineers? The management is investigating why this happens. Is it really that hard?
