Thank you all for your good wishes! I was a bit worried I’d broken my wrist, but it’s just got better and better as the day wore on, so I did go to two events, and had a nice plate of cheeses and a glass of wine in the bar at the Hyatt in between. My nice neighbour, who is a radiologist, dropped by this morning and had a look at my wrist and said it probably was just bruising. Yes, lots of nice people, including people here!

Hope your bumps and bruises are soon better DoraMarr. How galling to have to miss all those treats. Apart from the physical effects falling over does shake you up so too. Yesterday wasn't a good day for me either. Did some gardening , bent my finger back, which didn't hurt much but as the last section flopped, went to Minor Injuries and found I'd snapped a tendon. It's now in a splint, I can't drive, have an appointment at Fracture Clinic on the 30th which means missing holiday with family. I've been told it will then be strapped for six weeks, followed by Hand Therapy Clinic treatment to encourage the tendon to regrow.

dora you have my sympathy too. I buckled, as my children call it, earlier this week badly spraining the ankle on one leg and grazing the knee of the other one. To add insult to injury it was my birthday btw before I had opened the celebration Prosecco ! I was due to go away the following day to the Lake District with a friend for a few days, instead I spent the days on the sofa with an ice pack for company. Like you I felt daft that it happened, but grateful for the friends who dropped in to commiserate, disappointed at what I had to miss but guilty that, irritating and sore as it was, it really was nothing much to worry about! Hope your aches ease off and you recover well, I can recommend Arnica cream for bruises!

You were lucky you didn't break any bones. It is so easily done tripping over and perhaps you were too busy thinking about your lovely day ahead that you failed to spot the hazard.
I hope you make a quick recovery and I am also pleased you were surrounded by helpful and caring young people. I hope you got your drink too.

Yes, good to be reminded the world is not full of uncaring people. Wishing you a speedy return to mobility, don’t rush it though, gakemit easy.

Sorry to hear of your mishap, DoraMarr, and that it meant that you missed out on your planned activities. I hope you soon recover. You are right, though, there are a lot of kind people around and it's nice to be reminded of that fact now and again. Feet up now, and take it easy. ?

Dora you have my sympathy. I did exactly the same thing a few weeks ago, landed on the same points of contact as you, was thoroughly embarrassed by the amount of on the spot attention it engendered, and am only just getting over it. Take it easy and get better soon!

Oh I’m so sorry DoraMarr, both for your bruises and for the disappointment at missing your coffee with friends, the literature festival, and the meal later. A real downer but it’s always nice to salvage something positive from a negative experience, i.e. the helpfulness of the young people and of the taxi driver.
