Doodle Sat 03-Nov-18 19:50:31

kitty it was dark outside blush .. it was only a little drink.. I was cold... and as my DH always points out it's past yardarm time somewhere in the world grin. Hope you are on the mend soon.

morethan I do hope your DH is forgiven whatever has occurred. You must all be completely stressed and worn out. I hope it passes without more worry for you.

ann I think the home sounds like a good one. Take it when you can.
Many happy returns to McSporran. ?

Sleep well all x

Evening All. Busy one in corner-land, looks like it’s been even more so in the kitchen. Achieved a heap of sorting so tonight’s resident granddaughter could see her bed, did a a food shop and managed to supply an organised if not exciting meal this evening. Enough now smile.

Delighted macs has had a happy and enjoyable birthday*soop*, also sounds as if the cat has made a step forward towards permanence.

What a happy photo n&g, please don’t mention filing, there’s some lurking here menacig me.

Sending love and hugs ann, can understand the mixed emotions, it’s hard when we have no choice. No one could have done more.

Sounds as if you will be able to wrap up warm when it’s needed panache. Hold on to hope, your home dilemmas will work out. That sounds better for your daughter overthehills, hope you can relax a bit now.

Pleased you’re warm again galen, blue is not a good colour for skin. Too hot grannyq? Oh I wish. I’m always cold. I was looking at one of those hats with ear flaps today, seriously thought about it until I put it on my head grin. Ours is off on his travels in the morning, he has humoured his Mum and sent his itinerary and flight details, I’ll be checking, no hope is there? Loved the photos, those beach huts are such a happy image.

Sounds a good evening charley, how do you feel about your image being used as a spending deterrent? So far so good with the filling, I’m getting more hopeful.

Oh goodness, morethan, it truly never rains. You both have enough stress. Sending love and hoping for the very best outcome for your husband.

How you doing callgirl? Any more energised? You too, kitty, don’t overdo it. Loved the Halloween images, Don’t the young ones love it all?

Time to put the iPad away for the evening. Take care everyone, it’s Saturday, the cold white is waiting, not that the resident granddaughter will approve hmm.

Willow500 Sat 03-Nov-18 22:24:58

Very belated birthday wishes to Mr Mac - lovely to hear he's had a good day with all those ladies flocking too grin

Ann good news - there's no doubt you will have very mixed emotions when the time comes but as things are now getting even more difficult trying to cope it is definitely going to be the right decision.

Morethan I echo others about your husband's issue at work - I really hope he has an understanding employer as you are all under so much stress and mistakes so easily happen.

Panache you and your dear man have so much to contend with at the moment - I hope you find a suitable new abode quickly. Do you have people who will be able to help with a move?

The tooth bad fairy has struck again. My sister in law was eating her breakfast and her front tooth just broke off at the gum - no pain which is good but presumably the only treatment will be extraction.

We have spent the day setting up our little office with many IT problems but hopefully sorted now. I will try harder to catch up properly tomorrow.

callgirl1 Sun 04-Nov-18 00:01:52

I`m so glad that MacSporran had a good birthday, hopefully with a dram or two?
Scary picture Kitty!
Lovely seaside pics GrannyQ, where is it?
Morethan, do your husband`s employers know about your family`s present difficult situation? I hope things go alright for him, I do so admire the way you all cope.
Ann, it`s good news, albeit sad at the same time, you know it`s for the best.
Panache, another interesting and informative post. I hope that your prospective buyers do buy, and that you find something suitable very soon..
Corner, you`re on the next page and I will lose this post if I change pages, but I can`t remember all that you discussed, so can I reply tomorrow? I will say, I don`t feel as if I`ll ever be energised ever again, lol!
N&G, lovely photo.

Oh your up late callgirl unless you live in Australia? I’ve been downstairs and made porridge and tea for mr morethan who’s working today. No one in today to give him any information he’ll have to wait until wendnesday. My catch up with the girls was really lovely but the lunch sat like a brick in my stomach. Little grandson is asleep next door. I think I’ve told you this but a while ago I asked him when he had his own room with lots of wonderful stuff in does he want to come here. He said “oh I’ll have to have a little think? Then a few minutes later he ran up and said I know why I like coming here....it’s because I love you” Unfortunately yesterday all he talked about was Pokemon. I just nodded in the right places. I’m off back to bed in the hope of a nap but I won’t hold my breath, oh to sleep like a teenager.

MawBroon Sun 04-Nov-18 08:17:07

A little bird ? told me it’s another birthday today - Happy Birthday Greyduster!
I understand various local authorities have arranged firework displays in your honour (and McSporran’s yesterday)
Oh to be so honoured!
Grey day today and nothing much planned. I was going to plant some daffodil bulbs in the border, but after a conversation with DD3 yesterday think I’ll plant them in Paw’s grave instead so that once it grasses over they will come through in the Spring.
(Or maybe not as I have the opposite of green fingers)

Finding it hard at present as every day brings vivid flashback memories of this last week of Paw’s life.
Will get there.

tanith Sun 04-Nov-18 08:22:06

Maw flowers

aggie Sun 04-Nov-18 08:25:11

Maw flowers and(((((((hugs))))))))))

Greyduster Sun 04-Nov-18 08:43:18

Why thank you, Maw. That’s very kind! I’m sending you a {{hug}} for when you plant the bulbs. And I do love fireworks.
I know it’s rather unconventional to make one’s own birthday cake, but here is mine and you are all welcome to a slice! It is red velvet with cream cheese icing.
Good morning the kitchen. Morethan I had to smile at your GS “having a little think”! The day we moved here seven years ago, I said to GS, then five, that he could choose a room to be his for when he came to stay. “I’ll have to have the big one,” he said “because I’ve got a lot of things to bring over.” Er, no, actually that’s ours! We compromised ?.
N&G that’s a lovely photo of Laura. They change almost before our eyes these pre-teens. Glad the girls all got to their destination ok - not a good place to blow a tyre.
Gq stunning photos as usual. I love the beach huts. I saw one come up for sale recently and it was you could have bought a small terraced house here for what they were asking!
Hang on to that filling, Corner! No pork crackling!
Well, I suppose I had better go and open my cards. And see if I can find seventy two candles! And put the fire brigade on standby!
I will look in later.

Bellanonna Sun 04-Nov-18 08:51:16

Happy Birthday Dear Greydyster ???

cornergran Sun 04-Nov-18 09:00:33

Good morning and a very happy birthday greyd. That cake looks absolutely delicious.

I do understand maw. I know it’s not the same at all but the re-living happened to me the year after my Mum died. Love and hugs for you.

Very disturbed night here, no reason over than daft, anxious thoughts. Fortunately visiting granddaughter can sleep for the world so no rush this morning. We’re preparing cake mix for December today (not sure if I am allowed to use the word), could be an interesting cake hmm.

Gagagran Sun 04-Nov-18 09:04:20

Many Happy Returns Greyd - hope the cake is as good as it looks! wineflowers

Alygran Sun 04-Nov-18 09:04:36

Happy birthday greyduster and a belated one for macs.
flowers for Maw. I have planted snowdrops and little daffs in pots to take to DH ‘s grave. I intended to plant them under the turf but noticed that where this had been done the grass didn’t get cut until the summer. As DH considered beautiful mown grass the pinnacle of his gardening skills, pots it has to be! .
Sending best wishes to all who need them and thanks to everyone whose lovely stories brighten my days.

annsixty Sun 04-Nov-18 09:18:48

I have already said Happy Birthday to Greyduster on one of the two Good Morning threads, but if it gets lost I will say it again.
Sympathetic thoughts to those bereaved and feeling so sad.

morethan2 Sun 04-Nov-18 09:31:06

Happy birthday greyduster hope you can relax and enjoy. flowers for maw same here re green fingers. I’m completely talentless. I sympathise corner I so miss the time when sleep came easy and was a pleasure.

Charleygirl5 Sun 04-Nov-18 09:44:34

Happy birthday Greyd-that cake looks beautiful.

I have no idea how I can sleep so well each night having done zilch yesterday. Tara wanted me out of bed before 7am- no chance.

I blame people like Maw because I am going out to spend money later this morning. She bought a Michelin style coat- I will not buy that specifically but it did give me ideas. The bus seats here are very narrow and I would probably take up two wearing a Michelin man coat.

There are normally fireworks for weeks up to Diwali and Guy Fawkes but not this year- I think it may be the expense. I am not complaining because most years I found spent ones on my doorstep. Luckily Tara is not frightened if I am around- she sleeps near me and forgets about the noise.

NanaandGrampy Sun 04-Nov-18 09:58:25

Morning all !!

Happy Birthday Grey -- you kept that quiet. Ill take a chunk of cake please and Ill even give you a hand to blow out those candles !!

Oh Morethan we have a Pokémon fan too. He has just discovered the card game and we play whenever we see him ( and he cheats like buggery LOL) . In fact he went as Ash Ketchum when he went Trick or Treating and ended up in the local paper. Ill add a proud Nana picture.

Had a slow start this morning so I must rush and get breakfast otherwise it will be lunch time :-)

Happy day allx

grannyqueenie Sun 04-Nov-18 10:06:18

Just a quick pop in to leave birthday greetings to greyduster, hope you have a lovely day and there are some well deserved treats for you to enjoy. We went to a spectacular firework display last night, organised by some very well heeled friends of our ds, didn’t realise it was really in honour of your special day! grin
Thinking of you maw as you revisit painful times with paw flowers x
Will try and nip back later, in the hope that there may be a crumb of gd’s cake left x

grannyqueenie Sun 04-Nov-18 10:11:35

Sorry hadn’t read your post callgirl, it’s Brighton aka London by the sea. Busy and buzzing it has a charm all of its own, but quiet and peaceful its not. Arundel where we had a walk and a mooch yesterday is quaint and full of character

Panache Sun 04-Nov-18 10:17:08

This really is a fleeting visit and I shall return later to read in depth all that has been happening since I last popped by.......always such a lot and so iinteresting you dare not close your eyes!!!

Foremost may I join the queue in wishing you a very happy birthday GreyD......truly hope it will be a day of peace sprinkled with much love.

A typical November day here, bleak, wet and altogether grim.....however I shall just make a hurried visit so that you all know we are still surviving in Chez Panache!

In fact if I may I bring you two heart warming little stories of interest.
Residing in our area we have a sand artist,he is well known for drawing the most amazing pictures........in sand.......mainly on Tenby`s North Beach.
They are large enough to take up a huge area and every little detail can be seen from a helicopter flying overhead for example...........or people residing even in top floor flats over looking this beach.

He has received much fame and has been called to many other beaches to perform special works of art,has been seen in Newspapers world wide and on the T.V.

Only a week or so ago he drew this impressive picture of a Tsunami... depicting the one that caused such damage in Indonesia recently.
Underneath was the tsunami appeal, complete with Phone numbers for donations.
Within 24 hours in Tenby area alone the fund benefitted by several thousands.

This week a couple living in a flat in Tenby are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary .
Fancy their surprise on opening wide their blinds to find a massive heart warming drawing and beautiful worded message there below them on the sand.

It almost brought tears to my eyes just picturing it!!!

How I wish I could man the camera like you all do........sorry friends but you will just have to believe me and picture these scenes !!!

Back later I promise.......

harrigran Sun 04-Nov-18 10:17:16

Happy birthday Greyduster, may your day be filled with sunshine
I am late to GN this morning as I had a very disturbed night, serves me right for having a creamy sauce at dinner last night.

Greyduster Sun 04-Nov-18 10:37:51

Thank you for all your good wishes. Before anyone else compliments me on the cake, it came out of a box blush. I did make the icing though.
N&G you can stand by with the fire extinguisher if you would!?.

Nannytopsy Sun 04-Nov-18 10:46:08

Happy Birthday Gd. I am sure the icing is delicious! ?

Overthehills Sun 04-Nov-18 11:18:50

Happy birthday to you Greyd!
Lovely stories Panache.
Beautiful photo Grannyq.
I hope you have a good day with little DGD Morethan and that tomorrow brings a good settlement of DH’s work problem.
We had a great time at the fireworks last evening but sadly had a huge row with DD afterwards. This is about the fourth one in her whole life and she’s thirty-six ... She’s been very snappy with GDG so I tried (gently I thought) to talk to her about it and she went into orbit. Said that DGD was very disobedient and disrespectful towards her and that she had to learn. DGD is a typical six year old and can push boundaries with the best of them but she’s a delightful, generous and kind little girl. I do know that DD is under a lot of pressure all the time from “that man” but I feel she sometimes takes it out on DGD. I’m sorry to be such a misery about this but I feel at my wit’s end, I thought things had settled down between DD and DGD but it’s seems to be just as bad as ever. It’s so sad and I just can’t bear it.
