Willow MacSporran has an aortic aneurysm, it was detected when he had a scan to map the presence of lymph nodes affected with Leukaemia. It is measured fairly regularly. He then learned that his father had the same problem and underwent surgery.
Tanith Thank goodness that your husband had the appropriate treatment that saved his life.
N&G Thank you for updating us with the sterling work Grandpa has carried out in the log cabin.
Talking of baked beans...that's what I shall eat with a jacket potato when we return from the poetry reading evening in the church. I couldn't possibly partake of said beans prior to the event. Oh, glory be, I would not dare shift in my seat for fear of an embarrassment of flatulance.
I'm away to watch the bowls championship on television. I believe that the final match is being played, in Perth, this afternoon.
Maw
Soop thanks for mentioning the bowls , found it and enjoying
Thinking of you Maw x
Soop, all the best for your reading tonight.
Hoping that Panache is alright.
Maw, this is my third attempt at posting this - I hope it works.
I hope you have had a gentle day with lots of happy memories. (((hugs)))
I am hoping panache is well, too.
soop good luck for tonight. You are a special lady.
Just a quick thingy to make you smile. DD3 fed Wolfie and went to Aldi, as she got him out of the car he vomited all over her, hair, coat, the lot. She had to make a swift decision whether to go home or whether to shop and hope no-one noticed so she so she could get home to pick Bertie and Persie from school. When she got to the checkout, feeling like a car crash, the cashier asked her for ID before she would put through the 2 bottles of wine in her trolley. DD is 31! She didn't know whether to be pleased or cross.
Hope this post works!
Wonderful tale kitty, I hope your daughter was pleased - eventually
. How's Wolfie doing? Hope his older brother and sister are treating him well.
Just typed up the family stuff for one of ours for her reading tomorrow, its left me feeling so sad that no one from the family has visited this man's grave. I may need to do something about that, maybe next summer.
Pouring outside, need to be out later on Granny detail, oh well, can only hope I shrink.
We're a bit weary today so have done little other than a food shop, lots of empty shelves, there is a new store manager so we had a chat about our experiences, he says he will fix it - we'll see.
Wishing you well for your reading soop, although I'm absolutely certain all will go to plan. Good to know Facebook isn't picking on you, I've never joined, keep saying I will to make it easier for the family but then it goes out of my head.
How's the west wing n&g? Will Grampy be allowed the weekend off?
Hope panache is feeling stronger and today is being a little kinder to ann. Best go off to cook now, it seems there is a rumbly tummy in the next room.
Take care everyone.
Preparing to tidy myself in readiness for tonight's poetry reading. Thank you for good wishes. It is tippling with rain and the wind is wild. Ferries have been cancelled. Never mind, it will be good to return home.
My best wishes to all our kitcheners for a cosy, pleasant evening.
All bein well, I hope to be back with you all tomorrow. ☺
Hello everybody, hope you’ve all had a good day. We popped over to visit a friend in her new house and helped her hang a few pictures and kindly took a carpet runner off her hands for our hall - well it saved her a lot of bother!
Hope today has been a bit easier for you Maw than you thought and that happy memories have been the order of the day.
I decided to try a few other threads today and I have to say I agree with Maw (and others) that there seems to be quite a bit of agro - too much for me so I’m sticking to the kitchen.
Good luck for tonight Soop though I’m sure you don’t need it.
My new hob is working a treat and looks lovely!
Marydoll I passed your advice on to DH about the tumble dryer but he’d already tried that, thanks anyway. Someone is coming on Monday so ??.
Have a good evening everybody, I’m off to watch Strictly It Takes Two.
Evening all !!
Hope your day was not all tears Maw but that some memories brought smiles.
Good luck with the reading Soop , I did smile at the no beans till afterwards comment.
Grampy has indeed finished the outside and flooring , the electrician has done his work so now its the tedious ( and heavy ) job of putting everything out there.
Not today though , or indeed tomorrow as we are away to celebrate the Queen of the Universe's 12th birthday !! Sam will be staying home to await his visits from our new dog lady. She spoils him and of course he lets her. We had him bathed in preparation for hugs and god knows what happened in the groomers but he returned looking like a giant puffball! Instead of a silky smooth long coat he looks like someone has tumbled dried him. For the life of me , I don't think anything will help but another bath!
Last time I let Grampy take him to the groomers, poor lad can barely get through the door!!
We had to bite the bullet and have a new oil tank fitted and it was definitely an 'ouch' when we had to pay the bill !! Its still as ugly as sin but at least its a tidy as ugly as sin if you know what I mean.
I shall share some pictures with you on Sunday of my abode ( plenty of room for you and Tara Charley !!)
See you then x
Only just caught up with today's kitchen but wanted to say to Maw that I hope today has been full of happy memories as well as some sadness.
Missed you my Kitchen friends, but “kicked out” from Hospital so I am back.....groggy, but soon to post again hopefully.
Peace and blessings as always to you all.
I just love reading these posts many uplifting and hilarious and others that make you thankful that your medical problems are mild in comparison x
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was one of the wettest and windiest that we've experienced in a very long time. Today is calm and sunny. Scottish weather is interesting to say the least.
Maw You were also in my thoughts throughout the day. I trust that our support, albeit virtual, was of some small comfort to you, and indeed all other Granspals who have on going problems to contend with.
N&G I'm wondering whether the Queen of the Universe can expect a right royal birthday bash, or will be a day like any other routine-ish day.
I can visualise Sam with his puffed-up coat. Poor Grampy appears to be heading for a short spell in the dog house. Dear of him.
The poetry/choral evening went well. A tree was blown down on the road into the village. Thankfully, by the time we were en route, it had been shifted.
MacSporran took a photo as I recited 'Perhaps'. It's blurry because he didn't wish to use the flash. Anyway...here it is.
Good to hear Panache please stay out a bit longer and recover slowly.
Hope the reading went well soop.
I have had some not very good days but feel slightly more human today.
I have ordered my C.......s present today, a kitchenaid food mixer at half price and intend to get stuck into some baking.
It is a better day weatherwise today which does lift the spirits .
Have a good weekend all, Maw take comfort with the company of your family, you are very blessed with them.
Panache Us lot would sooner have you in the kitchen. Sit yourself down and we will pamper you something rotten.
Ann Wow! Can us lot hope for lots of calorie-free cake? Be extra good to yourself. That's an order.
Hello again, EllanVannin. I do love your name. Puts mine to shame.
Lovely to see you in the kitchen Panache
Love the photo soop. I'm sure it was a moving event.
I'm looking forward to cakes galore Ann.
Hope you are feeling OK, gd. And you too maw.
We are going away for a couple of days tomorrow. I intend to do nothing but eat and sleep!
kitty, that sounds like a plan. Have yourself a perfectly , well deserved relaxing time.
I continue to be experience buggerations with my PC. I hope to have positive assistance sometime soon.
In the meantime, please take very good care of yourselves. Big hugs for all who need tender loving care.
N&G I cannot believe that "queen of the universe" is the age she is now. No doubt you will be looking forward to the inevitable temper tantrums possibly in the near future!
Panache I hope you are resting at home- at least no more trips to the hospital for treatment.
Now kitty you do not want to put on any weight before Christmas so please concentrate on sleeping.
soop pleased to hear that the reading went well.
I am showing my age wishing for the rain to fall this evening so that we do not have any more fireworks going off until midnight. I am well aware I am miserable.
NG* I hope that Sam enjoyed time with his new found friend. He is a lucky chap.
Evening All. Just sat down, or rather collapsed in a heap. Spent rather too much time in the loft (don’t ask) and even more time wrestling with what I rather grandly refer to as the household accounts before going off to watch two of ours in a drama group performance for the remembrance weekend. I was prepared for most of their involvement but didn’t know one was going to sing in a duet, she usually refuses to sing, and then gave a very moving closing speech. Tissues were needed.
Good to see you panache, wishing you a peaceful night. You too ann, I’ll be in the queue when the baking begins.
Go for it kitty, eating is essential, enjoy every minute.
Pleased the reading went well soop, never doubted it. We had some wild weather here yesterday, thought the rain would never stop. Had more today, hoping for some of your sunshine tomorrow as we’re off to a beach to one of the Pages of the Sea events.
Oh dear, a bad hair day for Sam. Is Grampy forgiven yet? Looking forward to seeing pictures of the West Wing, I’ll try to keep the envy under control
. I’m sure the Queen if the Universe is having a wonderful time, as are you both.
Sorry, can’t remember what else has been happening. Wouldn’t it be easier if we could add extra memory as we can to a computer? Take care everyone, hugs for anyone struggling today.
soop you look very angelic in the photo with the backlighting? Glad the reading went well and you got there and back safely.
panache we want you in the kitchen not the hospital. Stay well.x
Hello corner sounds as though you've had a busy day. Hope you haven't brought any cobwebs into the kitchen ??
kitty that sounds an excellent plan. Eating and sleeping, the things I do best ?
Good evening to all of you!
Panache I’m so happy to see you popping in and knowing you’ve been banished from the hospital again. Please just sit quietly and regain your strength a little with all the good wishes and positive vibes being sent your way.
Soop your picture looks lovely with the low lighting – thank goodness the fallen tree had been moved before you set off and didn’t come down while you were there!
Ann well done on ordering your Christmas present – how exciting – we’ll all be waiting to see what delightful cakes you are going to treat us with.
N&G the story of Sam the puffball is so funny – he must be very embarrassed when out on his walk meeting his friends – you can almost hear him muttering to them ‘they washed my hair and now I can’t do a damned thing with it – I need to find something smelly to roll in’!!
Ouch about the oil tank but at least you’ll be cosy warm when the bad weather arrives.
Son No1 and wife came up today so we took them over to the seaside to see the bungalow which they were thrilled with and better still some friends popped in unexpectedly who haven’t seen him since he was about 7 (40 years ago!) - it was a lovely half hour with jokes and no awkwardness at all after all this time. We took the new fire which looks very nice although we need an extra part to make it fit better – I just hope it’s not too expensive or Mr W will be making something in his shed to fit the bill. We finished off the day with the famous fish n chips before the hours drive back here and then they had another 2 hours drive to get home.
Everyone seems to have had a wet day today – it’s been cold here but no rain until a slight drizzle when we arrived home. Hope the sun comes out tomorrow for you all.
Just watched th BL festival of remembrance, I think it was the most moving one I’ve ever watched.
Yes, we thought the same galen, a few tears here.
Ridiculously late as always! I hope you’re finding just the right mix of happy and sad memories this weekend maw, that is such a lovely photo of your dear *paw.
Poor Sam n&g, how will he ever live down that bouffant hairdo, it’s not easy to be the new dog in town you know! Enjoy birthday fun with Laura, the stuff to do can always wait! Ann, what no new handbag? But a swanky new mixer should be fun to play with though. corner I hope your energy levels return to normal tomorrow, accounts would finish me off - probably just as well I married an accountant! kitty the perfect combination, enjoy every minute, or should I say morsel ?
Well I too would have watched the Remembrance things on tv but the tv assures me it isn’t receiving any signal. I suspect this is due to next doors builders being a bit heavy handed with a scaffolding pole, it’s all very close to our arial. I’ve being expecting this to happen, though my old boy thought I was being over pessimistic. Hey ho, small beer in the grand scheme of things and I’m not planning on paying to rectify it!
willow that sounds like a day well spent in every way. No rain here until late in the afternoon so, despite the house needing a good sort out, we took ourselves off to explore new territory - a beautiful arboretum we’d not visited before. Just in time to see the last of the stunning autumn colours and some birds of prey too. Altogether a grand day out! I’ll post a couple of photos
ps apologies to everyone I’ve managed to ignore this time!
