Black Friday deals

I've just ordered chocolates for anosmic sufferers from a lady who came to our WI a couple of years ago and had never heard of anosmia (loss of smell and taste). She promptly went off and started experimenting with textures and had me test them (such a trial ) and has now opened an online store which includes them. Not in the Black Friday sales but so excited had to share!

I have 2 jars of Ceramic Baking beans which I don't use any more - any ideas out there of what I can use them for otherwise I will charity shop them as one jar is new? Many thanks.

I have spent all afternoon returning and re buying the same items. 2 items I saved £80 on. Why can’t first price be best price. Meh ?but it was worth it. I only bought them last Friday! That’s what I get for being organised for once ??

There was a lovely dress on Lorraine fashion slot this morning - £22.50 instead of £45 but when you try to buy it, it's £45. Annoying.

I managed to park in my small local town in Dorset which is quite an achievement for a Friday. Presumably due to everyone shopping in the larger shopping centres. Result for me!

Black Friday deals are usually overhyped marketing tools aimed at getting you to pay full price for a perceived bargain.
On the news John Lewis had a vacuum cleaner for sale at a Bargain £349. Which magazine looked into the price.
It was indeed a bargain as it had been reduced from its previous price.
They did a bit of deeper research and found that the price this year had been up and down more than OH's mood swings. The sale price now was similar to that on a couple of occasions earlier in the year.
The icing on the cake was that Which still managed to find that same item elsewhere for £299.
Obviously there are bargains to be found and good luck to those who bag them.
Not wishing to spill my half empty glass, perhaps those who actually bought a bargain in the high street without researching the prices could let us know if they felt the same when they got home and checked online that they had actually got a bargain.
Which found 100's of similar examples throughout other outlets.

Just got a blinding new phone contract as recommended by Martin Lewis so great saving for 2 years. Brilliant as I was checking out deals only yesterday as my phone went into meltdown, got an email earlier today from MSE for a fabulous deal, saves me a fortune.

Hopefully, DH is , at this moment, picking up a box set of Winnie the Pooh books from Tesco’s , for £20.00 . Part of DGD 2’s Christmas present, she’s an absolute book worm , at the ripe old age of 6 , so should go down well !

"Which" say that they track prices before and after sales like Black Friday, and many things are actually more expensive in the sale than at other times.

I went to the shops yesterday and got 20% off in John Lewis, Debenhams and The White Company. I think they seem to have extended Black Friday a couple of days either side ??

Scarfgran, my 8 yr old DGD is into slime and putty and I found a National Geographic box of it on Amazon, I expect the 4 yr old would like it as well; it is round about £25 I think.

I bought a dress in Monsoon last week, it's for a special occasion and I really wanted it. I received an email yesterday saying there was 25% off all dresses. I took the dress back, I hadn't taken any of the labels off, and they refunded me the 25% discount, result !!!
I also bought myself an Echo Dot from Amazon at 50% off.

We have been saving up for an American style fridge freezer and had narrowed down to two models. Only to find Currys put up the price of one by £300 on Wednesday...and the other is out of stock indefinitely. So no bargains found here

I had booked a hotel for the end of January...…………… then a Black Friday deal appeared yesterday and I have re-booked for a grand 50% saving.

I keep a note of my 'possible' purchases with regular price and then do the deed if the reduction is a good one. I have found even better deals immediately after the BF frenzy has finished. I guess it all depends how desperately we want a particular item.

I bought a robot lawnmower on Amazon last year and I would say it is one of the best things I have ever bought. I didn't really realise I wanted it until I got it and now I wouldn't be without it.
There is nothing this year I need and none of the presents I need to buy are on offer.

I have bought several black Friday deals, but only because it is a time of year for internet shopping. The deals are no better than the early in the week Black Friday deals, the early November Black Friday deals, the pre and post Cyber Monday deals, the summer sales, or actually the ordinary regular discounted prices. Who remembers the days of January sales that didn't start on Boxing Day, July sales that didn't last til September, where you had to go to the shop and get the stuff, possibly queueing or rummaging, and that was all there was!

I have stocked up on Clinique products at Lookfantastic with 25% off and greatly reduced Ecco hiking boots at Amazon which I have had my eye on for some time, also got 30% off a dress at Boden.

Amazon has the Gtech cordless and bagless for £149. I have one and I love it - good deal.

I've been keeping an eye out for a new tv and soundbar for my son as his has recently given up. I know the price to pay and was very happy with my purchase from Amazon. I'm not paying, he is but he's out of the country until next month and asked me to do it before he left. I spoke to him earlier and he's chuffed to bits and now wants me to keep an eye out for a laptop. There's nothing I want or need so I won't be buying anything for myself.

I don't doubt some bargains are available but watching the TV ads I try to read the tiny notices at the bottom which most of the time say the item was only sold at the higher price between certain dates (usually about 3/4 weeks) so is it really a bargain?

My husband bought a Miele vacuum cleaner from John Lewis which was marked down over £50, I think. I'm trying to be excited about such a purchase but so far that feeling has eluded me. He's quite pleased with it though, so that's all that matters

Just done all our Christmas shopping through Amazon wish lists and saved money this week.
