Expressions that irritate you

I dislike the term pan fried too. What else would you fry something in? A dustbin lid?
Don't like arty fartiness.

Why is every TV programme with an outcome or winner now being described as a process?
And why do people tell me that moving on with life is their 'journey'?

Using the word 'show' instead of programme.

Give it up for, which I presume means, give a round of applause.

So and so rocked a look, meaning looked good in whatever they were wearing.

On a serious note, "Lessons will be learnt"

Oh and 'I am loving it'. And people who assume "We are loving it", whatever it may be. Lorraine Kelly says it far too often.

People who use such phraseology have not learned the art of proper conversation using the Queens English.

"Rocked up" instead of arrived sets my teeth on edge.

GrandmaFaye that's one of DD's most used phrases.
Another is "s**t the bed" meaning Oh, no I forgot or amazing.
She picked that one up from working in care apparently.

I don't know where she was dragged up !

"On a daily basis" - I do not know why it irritates me so much, but "every day" has much to commend it.

"Chillin'" instead of relaxing.

Hun or Babs (a woman in her 60s said that to me recently..."Hun, you look great, Babs"...the fool)

Willow10, just to clarify my op on this one. I really don’t mind people saying what a shame, or that’s a shame, when the expression is extended,for example, that’s a shame I really hope everything works out for you, or what a shame I’m really sorry this happened to you. It’s when it’s said or worse texted on it’s own that to me anyway it feels a bit patronising & throw away,even if not intended.

A few weeks ago I phoned my bank and asked for some details regarding a recent transaction. The young woman on the phone gave me some information that didn't seem quite right, so I asked her to double check. She came back and said "You're right Mrs Chewbacca, my bad".
My bad? What's that? The young chap I work with said that "my bad" is common slang for "I'm sorry Mrs Chewbacca, I made a mistake. Please forgive me".

My bad! Grrrrrr! Prefer the original personally.

One that really winds me up though is when you ask someone if they want to do something and they reply "why not?"
Well I'm not holding a gun to your head, you don't have to sound so enthusiastic about it!!!

Chewbacca, ‘My bad’ used instead of an apology is utterly appalling. The next time someone says it to me I’m going to say ‘oh no, your not bad, it was just a mistake’ ?

I use lots of these...oops! But this thread has really amused me. My daughter says What a shame. I too think it doesn't sound genuine. But its maybe just a modern phrase. I hate hun and back in the day.

hack (as opposed to tip, helpful suggestion or shortcut)
unboxing (as opposed to opening)

S/he is "on the spectrum." That one really really annoys me and is meaningless. Is the person standing on a rainbow?
It appears to refer to Autism/Aspergers .

On the spectrum leads people to think of a linear approach, which is infact wrong

'On the spectrum' is a term used by the professionals.
The diagnosis is Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Forgotten this one, but just heard it from a presenter on television. The use of me' instead of 'my' . As in "I've got me thermos and me sandwiches"
