I do hope you manage the journey home safely Synonymous home is definitely the best place to be when not well.
I wish your DH all the best for the immediate future.

Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company....
Thank you for your companionship. Welcome to our new kitchen.
and
Hello the kitchen and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to one and all!
I have much enjoyed all the hilarity in the kitchen over the last two or three days and have had such a giggle so thank you!
Really pleased and relieved to hear that the wheels have started turning for the Panaches and also hope the SS get cracking after their Thursday visit. They had better or else they will be faced with the wrath of soops kitchen! In the words of DGS3, "They need to be afraid - very afraid!"
Ann I hope that the home will make a point of only ringing you at civilised hours from now on and also that you find a happy routine that works for you.
Loads of fireworks were set off all around here last night which went on for ages. I know that there are ticketed displays but there were many in gardens too so there is clearly money to burn ( literally) in spite of all the paper talk.
Today I must pack the car up by tonight ready for our return home tomorrow as DD is off to work early in the morning and won't be available to help me then. Trouble is that during the night I started to go down with what DD had. I took an EO bomb at 1 o'clock and it helped very quickly so I have taken another before breakfast and will continue four hourly in the hope that it will do the trick. Strict instructions to DD to not tell Himself as he isn't very well and I don't want to worry him and I need to get us home. Why is nothing ever simple?! Hopefully all will be well.
Onwards and upwards!
Happy New Year.
I am taking a break from taking down the very few decorations.
It is a pleasant day and still very mild.
I am getting the house tidy and wondering just what the New Year will bring as my H is not well.
I am going out for a meal later with extended family, could be nice, could be awkward as a rift has appeared among some family members, I am not taking sides but I really don't need it.
While I have been typing it has clouded over.
Have a good day everyone..
Happy New Year! Lovely news from my eldest DD that a new baby is on its way. Good start to my year ? ....I’d love to get rid of the dratted lurgy though! Worn out with coughing!
Maw - an interesting recording. The absence of teeth lends a certain additional charm!
Happy New Year to all kitcheners but especially to Soop and Macs.
We were in bed early too and I heard a few fireworks about half past midnight but not for long. This morning we were up at 6 as usual and we have just finished taking down all the decorations and storing them away for next year. I am sure to have missed something despite a good look round.
I loved the cock sparrer and Duncan Macrae's expressive face so thanks Maw. Dialects are so precious and seem to be dying out due to TV and social media I think.
Hope the Panaches are coping and things start to get sorted for them. Also hope that your DH is soon over his UTI Ann and that you can start to enjoy a more normal lifestyle. Please let 2019 be a better year for everyone living with ill health, sadness or difficulties.
Good news that panache is getting some help. It is hard to go from giver to receiver, but it is part of life's pattern. I was given a massage by the hospice yesterday and a bit of me felt they should be on the ward caring for the inpatients, but she was very clear that part of their role is to help prop up the carers, so I just lay back and enjoyed it! - very much!
New Year has felt strange this year - I look at OH and wonder if he will be here this time next year. I do not want him to die but neither do I want him to continue feeling so grim. There is no further way that his troubles can be alleviated, so it really is just more of the same to come. It feels like a bit of a limbo - and a miserable one at that.
But the daffodils are coming through; and I finished up watching the spectacular fireworks over the nearby town through our big bedroom window. They were amazing and reminded me that new year always brings new hopes.
New Year wishes to all.
Happy New year, to one and all.
Oh Maw, my father used to recite that, I'd totally forgotten it. He even looked a bit like Duncan Macrae.
After a long night of revellry and little sleep, I came downstairs to make a cuppa and DD was sitting there. Oh how that girl can talk!!! My ears are fair nippin'
Maw it is a long time since I heard that and Parliamo Glaswegian!
The fireworks started off around 5pm here but reached a crescendo after 11pm. The noise was awful if one cannot beat them, join them so I watched the fireworks going off a few miles away at the London Eye on TV. It was well worth watching. I fell asleep after that but Tara decided it was a night for play so I did not get much sleep and amazingly I did not want to get up after 5am.
A day of clearing and tidying I think. I am looking forward to the new Luther series starting tonight. Happy New Year to all and 2019 will be less traumatic.
A day for tidying up and clearing the last dregs from bottles etc before we head off to London to return the granddog. I shall miss her but not enough to get one myself! Charlie will be pleased to have the run of HIS house again. Then we are having a few days in Suffolk and a flying visit to DGC before himself is back to work on Monday. Have a good day everyone x
A guid New Year tae us all!
Oops I seem to have regressed into White Heather Club land, but having had a surfeit of Auld Lang Syne (which frankly depresses me) here is a wee treat especially for the Scots among us.

Happy New Year to all.
Went to bed at 10pm although coughed all night. The DGC have a lot to answer for.
So sorry your trip to the hospital did not go as planned Kitty. I spent many an hour in that department at the General with my dad. They are very good there and my dad lived to be 97!
Cleaner coming today to make some sense of the house. Apparently it is lucky to pass money over on New Years Day.
Wishing all of soop's kitcheners a peaceful and happy 2019
Cheers to everyone
Thank you for the suggestion of Classic FM !
My husband is in bed too GG. I’m sitting listening to lovely music on Classic FM. We had the Prosecco earlier.
I echo your very nicely put sentiments.
GC and Mr GG are in bed, I am alone with a glass of white wine trying to stay awake to welcome in 2019.
Love, prayers and good wishes to you all, hoping for a healthy, happy and peaceful 2019.
Let all our troubles be solvable, let’s remember our departed loved ones and continue to make memories with our young ones. ???
Wouldn’t that have been nice mumofmadboys? In the world of romantic fiction it would have been, but this is real life and while I fancied him rotten, he was a “sophisticated” first year medical student and I a very geeky and shy schoolgirl
Oh I thought you were going to say that was how you met Paw!!
maw
My first New Year alone too since I was, I think 16 or 17. My parents had gone to a party and I was going to bed. At midnight they rang to wish me a Happy New Year and happened to mention that the teenage son of one of the party was home from university so why didn’t I give him a ring as he was on his own too. Did that and the next thing I knew he had invited himself round. You have never seen anyone get her curlers out so quick and get dressed and lippy on and find a bottle to take first footing.
I would like to say that was the start of something but alas it was not to be! This is not a romantic novel.
I shall be going very soon too annesixty It must be so strange for you but I hope you get a good nights sleep.
Its night nurse for me next
I am already in bed after my very first New Years Eve alone. I hope to get to sleep before the fireworks really start although some are going off already.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year, full of everything you wish for and enormous thanks to all in the kitchen for all your kindness to your fellow GNer's.
So very pleased to read that at last the Panaches are getting the help that they so sorely need. Well done to Luckygirl and Mammisio for getting things moving. THAT`S what GN is about!
In case I don`t get back later on, may I wish everyone at GN a Very Happy and Peaceful New Year.
Marydoll please stay well clear of Big Jim, you are in enough trouble and as you know nowadays you get no help financially from SS if you have more than 2 babies. I think we are all going to chip in. I am no use with sewing and knitting but I can babysit. Admittedly if the noise is too much I will go out shopping.
I'm just popping in to wish everyone a peaceful new year, before I go out first footing. .
My prayers for all who are suffering here and hope the New Year is a more gentle one for us.
(Perhaps not me, with the impending birth, but I know my fellow kitcheners and Argies, will rally round).
Doodle has been a star, but I suspect her patience is wearing thin.
I'm off down the Argie, where Big Jim is waiting to accompany me.
Here's to us! ??
