This is the first year that I am not being chief cook & bottle washer at my DDs house for up to 10 people and I am missing doing it.
Instead this year we are taking DD and DGCs out for Christmas lunch they are all grown up now (15-27yrs) so that will be their xmas from me & grandpa.
It feels very strange not being busy on Christmas morning and just having to cook breakfast the two of us.

I can't sit still for 5 minutes having been used to " doing " for the family for years. I'd be up and down like a fiddlers elbow I'm afraid-------not interfering, mind, just uncomfortable that I'm the one sitting and being waited on so I'd know how it felt.

A head has just popped round the door and offered me a cocktail.

It would be churlish to say no.......

Have a drink and look at the tv. In 38 years of marriage, I've never cooked a Christmas dinner - my husband has always done it, and he reckons he likes to - who am I to argue?!

I'm waiting, patiently, whilst having a cider and a couple of chocolates.....

For the first time in 50 years, because Im living wth relatives temporarily, I am not responsible for Christmas Dinner.

So I’m sat on the sofa on Gransnet.

It feels very odd.......
