Just returned home from NZ to Galen's sad news. Galen, it's all been said, so I can say no more but share the condolences already so eloquently expressed.
After all the business class meals I've eaten in the past two days, I don't think I need to eat this weekend, but suppose will nevertheless. We had a meal en route to Sydney where more passengers were picked up, so another meal was provided which I declined as I needed to sleep. Before arriving at Dubai we had breakfast and I enjoyed my gingerbread French toast with lemon curd and apple purée! Then after Dubai there was another breakfast as we had picked up loads more passengers. I sacrificed my principles to have a small 'continental' breakfast. Then a full lunch mid morning before we landed at Manchester. There was also a choice of wine and soft drinks with every meal including champagne - even for breakfast. But they didn't seem able to make decent tea! It was a very comfortable journey but soooo long! The variety of films on offer was mind-boggling.
We had lots of lovely sunny weather in Christchurch and we got out and about quite a lot. It was great to be able to spend so much time with my sister and also to meet up with her son and his family as well as friends I've met on previous visits.
