Good morning kitcheners, Mr.GG has been sent to get his ears syringed (at specsavers) so I shall have to be careful about my “muttering and cursing of him” as he may now be able to hear me ???

I have come back to bed with a lovely frothy cappuccino and a shortbread biscuit- I do not feel the slightest bit guilty!!

Hope the men in sickbay are behaving for matron.

Good afternoon kitcheners, it’s a lovely day here on the south coast, was frosty this morning but that’s all gone now. GG, I’m glad you didn’t feel guilty taking a coffee back to bed this morning, because I did exactly the same. It was too cold to get up I thought.

Today is the first day in a week that I haven’t felt woozy and not right when I got up, finally the dreaded lurgy has and gone and left me to get on with my life.

Yes Soop, it really is real chocolate cake in my fridge, some of you must have had a nibble but there’s still a chunk left, eat up girls or it’ll get past it’s sell by date, figuratively speaking of course, since it was actually made by my dear son.

I’m another one who has a ridiculously healthy husband, but I may leave him in the crèche occasionally. Is that ok? He’s busy today with daughter’s car, he was a teacher, not a car mechanic you understand, but he looks after the whole family’s cars, services and some repairs. He’s very good at it, and saves us a whole lot of money, and he enjoys it. Mind you, he liked teaching too, he likes all kind of work, whereas I prefer being lazy.

Oh well, I’d better get a move on and go to see my elderly mother, she missed me last week, as I stayed in all week. Mr M called in, and she was okay, but she misses me when I’m not around. Have a nice afternoon everyone.

The annexe wing of the kitchen is soley for the not-too-poorly menfolk. Those who are "feeling their age" without actually having anything positive to grumble about. Sometimes, a sleep over in our specially equipped ward brings them to their senses. Izabella has a tendency to be too gentle. Greyduster is therefore recruiting a team of hands-on assistants to help with the tasks that demand a strict regime. All our precious pets will have an important role to play. Mattresses upturned, tartan slippers scrutinised for hidden hashish and such-like. Twenty four hours in our ward will soon put a spring in the patients steps. In fact, they will beg us to allow them to return home to dry the dishes...

All willing assistants please form a disorderly queue. You need to agree for which shifts you'll be available. Don't all rush at once. The poorly menfolk may prefer to stay ensconced. Can't have that!

MacSporran's cough is no longer a problem. At last he can enjoy a full nights sleep. Me too. The rash is as livid as it was when we visited the GP last Thursday. I have taken a batch of photos. Not too long before the appointment with the heamatologist. She'll possibly have an answer.

soop Tara spent the weekend asleep indoors but flew out of the house this morning because she knew she had a long journey and her duties would start. Please do not allow her to go into the woods with Tabitha or she will not return.

I have done well in Waitrose today- I ordered a hot snack, knew there was a 10-15 minute wait because an oven had broken. 40 minutes later it arrived but while waiting after drinking a cup of paid for coffee I was offered a free cup.

Then I went to the till to pay for my goods. The fellow did not know the price of my crusty loaf of bread and it was not on his list. I had spent so long in the cafe I had forgotten so he gave it to me for £1 which I knew it was not. I think I saved 45p and being Scottish a free coffee and 45p mean a lot!

It is very cold here and about to get colder so please look after yourselves.

If you want instructions conveyed to the so-called sick, please call because I could talk to 350 folk in a lecture hall without a microphone in my heyday.

McS's rash looks nasty, I hope it is not itchy and that the skin does not break.

This afternoon we will be rolling bandages. I want straight edges, a tight roll and no sticky out bits! If you do a good job, you might get a cup of cold tea after. If not, anyone who can hold a knife will be spud bashing! No slacking or it will be???! Stand at ease! I’m off to the mess for a G&T! (All patients are now begging for Izabella to be returned!)

And here she is! I have been sourcing things to make life a little cosier in the sick bay, although I am most annoyed that SOMEONE left a walking stick ready for me to fall over. MrP is very welcome indeed and Tara will definitely have a role to play. I thought Molly may like to pop in when a little older perhaps?

There is a new bandaging machine for those who have sore wrists or arthritis, a 'helping hand' for those who need to reach things and a state of the art refrigerator and ice maker (thinking ahead to summer) My approach may appear gentle and soft, but I have my own ways of dealing with ne'er do wells, shirkers and troublemakers, so gentlemen be warned! Tomorrow morning I expect all old newspapers, Werthers wrappers and accumulated detritus to be clear by 0900hrs.

Our ward extension is going to add a new dimension to our kitchen. Oh, I'm loving it already!
Us lot are allowed treats. that lot have to earn them. No pain - no gain. That's our motto for those who want the ocassional square of chocolate whilst continuing to loll under the duvet.

MacSporran refuses to take to his bed. He has made a remarkable recovery since I mentioned the new ward. Okay, the cough is no longer a problem. The rash...that's another story.

Charleygirl your trip to Waitrose was not without it's perks. Good for you.
Tabitha has stopped visiting. We still peer through the window and hope to see her outside/inside the wee chalet. She is feral. She is free to live her life on her terms. We must feel happy for her.

Now that I feel happy to leave the team of bossy caring Granspals to keep a beady eye on the not-so-poorly menfolk. I shall away to take further photos of MacS's rash. When I approach him with the camera, he'll look all coy and say...not again! To which I shall respond...roll your trouser leg up.

Care home visit in the morning. Back to check on the kitchen and ward at lunchtime.

Gosh....just popping in and very surprised to find the crèche seems to be an outpost of the Argy Bargy! Mmmm .....poteen and potato scones all in one building ?

I’ve just tried to come into the kitchen, but en route tripped over a crowd of mealy mouthed old blokes loitering in a corner..... bemoaning their fate. The general consensus appeared to be regret that they’d ever tried for the sympathy vote from us long suffering women folk and thus had ended up at the mercy of some less than sympathetic nurses! That’ll teach them!

Bandaging machines? Refrigerators and ice making machines?? We need an apoplexy emoticon!! I can’t be doing with this fluffy pink jumper approach to medical care! Complete odd request sorry. Is anyone with a Kindle able to make bold lettering? When I write someone's name I would prefer to do it in bold so it stands out. ( no-one will shout at me on this thread. )

If you scroll down you should find a list of smileys and Emphasis. It will explain how to embolden (asterisk plus word plus asterisk). Certainly nobody will shout, Lully. It’s sad that they do elsewhere, isn’t it?!

Soop clearly Tabitha does not know which side her bread is buttered, and I am sorry she has eschewed your generosity. Having said that, like you I hope she is okay and just pleasing herself. Perhaps word will get round and someone will take her place?!

Gosh a whole new extended kitchen with two extra wings has appeared since I was last able to check in. I would go round the hospital ward with bed bath equipment but feel I may be better with the library trolley - I'm extremely clumsy and may well scald or drench the patients not to mention scaring the pyjama bottoms off them. I will volunteer Mr W to run the creche though as I think he will need to get in training for his retirement in two months which incidentally coincides with Brexit.

How awful for your daughter Mamissimo – one car is bad enough but two!! I hope the insurance company is sensible and pays out quickly.

Soop MacS is going to be in good hands – erm wrong words – going to be well looked after with the other poorly male folks. We should check for spades under beds though in case they are planning on tunnel digging out to the creche.

Panache I think we have all been reading between the lines – help aside you are still in a precarious situation and would that we could physically get there to help.

We have been decorating all weekend off the back of the wall unit I have painted and have the dining room half painted. Today I dressed in the painting gear but have spent the entire day getting all the stuff out of the conservatory, washing crockery and glassware and putting it back in the unit. Only another half of the room to do – I can give those kitchen walls a good rollering when I’m done here if they need it although not with the ten ton roller we bought for the ceiling. I couldn’t even lift it when it was full of paint!

Hoping all those suffering tonight get some sleep.

soop please could you pop my cushion in the corner for a bit. I am on holiday at the moment and connection is very poor so only able to pop in intermittently. Hope all the poorly gentlemen are being kept in line by matron (the threat of a dose of castor oil was always a good remedy when I was young ?). Lots of sympathy to Galen and her family , that it a dreadful situation to be living through.
I take my H to see the Consultant tomorrow morning, I am quietly dreading it,
I just hope we dont disagree on treatment.
I had a call at 5.45pm, he had fallen again, they got him up by use of a hoist and he seemed to be fine, I said to let me know if he wasn't in case I had to cancel , I really dont want to, I want it over with.
I haven't heard so all must be well.
Is it lights out in the ward yet? I hope you don't catch anyone trying to read by torchlight under the bedclothes.
