Here we are again. Happy as can be. All good friends and jolly good company.

WELCOME!

kittylester Sun 20-Jan-19 15:14:45

soop, I might not want him back that quickly!! grin

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 16:15:26

corner "Fraughtness" ...we'll add it to our Kitchen vocabulary. wink

Baggs Sun 20-Jan-19 16:19:24

soop, that wee hotel is the Tullie Inn at Balloch. Do you have an appointment at the Vale of Leven Hospital so we can meet there again? <hopeful look>

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 16:20:46

kitty You may leave him a little longer if absolutely necessary. Matron likes to get her charges washed, dressed, and breakfasted well before dawn.

Congratulations! Persie Us lot are proud of you.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 16:24:47

Thank you, Baggs. Yes. My appointment scheduled early March. We'll keep in touch. Both MacS and I would love to meet you.

Baggs Sun 20-Jan-19 16:25:59

Mamissimo, what a buggeration for your DD! It seems unfair that a person's car insurance can't be used if he was drunk. It's not about him but the people he has caused damage to. He should be made to pay somehow.

A car driven by someone drunk took my mother's front garden wall down some years ago. I don't know who paid for the rebuild but it certainly wasn't her.

maddyone Sun 20-Jan-19 16:37:07

Found you all again.
Hope you’re all having a restful afternoon.
Son number two called round today with half an enormous chocolate cake which he baked yesterday, as they’re on their way back to London (for work and school) and he didn’t want to take it with him, so with Mamissimo’s chocolate cake, and the cheese scones, plus this enormous half of chocolate cake, we’re well provided for this Sunday evening.
Enjoy the goodies everyone.

Charleygirl5 Sun 20-Jan-19 16:48:00

It must be cold outside today because this is the second day Tara has been attached to me. I think she may move tomorrow because I have to go out and she does not like being in the house on her own.

She could go from bed to bed in the recovery area, getting cuddles from all of the men. She is not a fan of most men but there must be somebody she likes. She will run a mile if somebody coughs though so be warned. soop she will be up early am to see you. She is on prescription food so no titbits please.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 17:08:46

Charleygirl Tara is welcome to pace the poorly ward. If, for example, any of the patients have smuggled in some of that waccy baccy, we need to tell Matron She'll have none of that on her shift!

maddyone Is that real chocolate cake? Us lot will loiter in the kitchen and sample it good and proper. The virtual cake may be calorie free, but it's tasteless too. wink

Galen Sun 20-Jan-19 17:13:41

I think there’s a fund that deals with uninsured or invalid drivers. All the insurance companies contribute to it.

Izabella Sun 20-Jan-19 17:15:28

Fear not. All those in the poorly wing have been tended to, offered cake and will hopefully all feel improved soon.

Lovely day here with so many people out and about, walking, cycling, canoeing etc. CH (current husband) is snoring on the sofa, dinner is prepared ready to 'put on' and I managed to sort out quite a lot of computer work earlier.

Annie i read your heartfelt post earlier also and can only repeat what my old mum used to say about one door closing, and another one opening. I feel you will be well supported if you do move. I can understand you feeling quite terrified of actually making the move. We will all be here to listen, and we will all stay with you no matter what your decision.

So many other gentlefolk with problems in the kitchen and elsewhere too. I hope things improve for you all.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 17:15:43

I trust that, just this once, I've played proper, no-nonsense catch-up. If you don't mind, I shall peel my backside from this chair and muse for a bit. I haven't opened the Sunday paper. What am I missing? Will it be worth celebrating? Has Brexit been talked over and a unanimous conclusion reached? I thought not.

I wish every Granspal and that includes husbands a peaceful and pleasant Sunday evening. I shall raise a G&T to toast your wonderful resilience and unfailing fortitude. smile moon

Fennel Sun 20-Jan-19 17:33:17

Amen to that soop.
Feeling blush because I tried to re-open the kitchen in the wrong way.
But we learn from our mistakes (I hope.)

POGS Sun 20-Jan-19 18:55:07

Soop

Long may you reign special lady.

A lovely weekend at Centerparcs but definitely feel that I shall need a lie in tomorrow! It has been a good time for wildlife - these hares turned up on the patio this morning! Lots of good birds too!

Twin2 Sun 20-Jan-19 19:26:52

I’ve not been able to visit for a while due to a few problems but nothing compared to others.

Happy to take a turn on the wing making tea etc

Hope everyone has a peaceful evening tea cake or gin on offer

NanaandGrampy Sun 20-Jan-19 19:35:48

Izabella when I am annoyed with Grampy I shall, in future, refer to him as CH ( current husband) ! Made me laugh out loud!

I love the pictures NannyTopsy they are here in abundance and I love to watch them .

Twin2 hope you’re feeling a bit better !

I’m happy to help with the chocolate cake ! Sam is willing to be a service dog for the ward. Jackson has taught him a new ( bit unsavoury) trick and if you touch your nose Sam will kiss it! ! Fortunately, I am not a huge worrier about germs etc ( but let’s not tell Jackson’s Mum) !

I’ll leave you with a picture from this morning which will show you how frosty it was here !!

Nannytopsy Sun 20-Jan-19 21:13:08

Lovely photo N&G! I am offering my services as ward orderly - no specialist training!

annsixty Sun 20-Jan-19 21:26:11

We have had no frost here at all, I love to see it but don't want to be out in it.
Busy day for once as my S has been and we finally got all the C.......s decs in the loft and 2 small bedrooms neat and tidy.
Molly climbed the steps into the loft and wouldn't come down, it took my S lots of treats and lots of coaxing to get her down.
When she eventually did, she had cobwebs hanging from everywhere.
It is not visited very often!!!
I am now in bed reading all the posts to catch up.
I decided earlier to set up a Facebook account, I have never been on it before.
Within 15 minutes first my GD and then my D were on the phone, not happy as it will make them very cautious about what they post!!
Be afraid, be very afraid and live a simpler life is all I can say.

Galen Sun 20-Jan-19 22:41:26

Exhausted after dgc’s visit. Were our children so noisy and energetic?
My ds/darling daughter is still adamant they don’t want treatment, just want to die!

Bellanonna Sun 20-Jan-19 23:16:15

That’s too awful Mamissimo. Really depressing. I do hope it can be resolved for your daughter’s sake. Just so unfair otherwise.

cornergran Sun 20-Jan-19 23:27:59

I'm sorry the intent to die is still there galen, they must be very desperate indeed. I often think children have got noisier, or maybe I’ve got older hmm. Please think about yourself tomorrow. Try to get someone to check your back.

That made me laugh ann, whatever are they posting that you should not see? The mind boggles. Be afraid indeed smile. Molly sounds adventurous, perhaps she could be trained to put things away for you.

Busy week ahead again so I may not post but will try to read and run to keep up

Take care everyone, sleep well.

grannyqueenie Sun 20-Jan-19 23:30:28

I think mine probably were galen it’s just that I was a lot younger then! I’m sorry you’ve got such a sadness to cope with in your family, serious illness is hard enough without these added complications. This week I had a phone call from someone I knew years ago, her daughter came out as bisexual last year but is now exploring transitioning. Her mum is beside herself with worry at what might lie ahead for her beautiful girl.
Ann that’s good advice indeed I think!
n&g I think you could and maybe should write a book about those boys and their sayings/exploits!! ? Beautiful photo btw. No real frost here...yet.
I was given a photo globe thingy from dd2 for Christmas. I tried it out for the first tine the other day, I’ll keave a photo for inspection. Lovely pictures of your littlies, kitty

I do like the idea of a sick bay for poorly menfolk, but as my old boy is ridiculously healthy could there m be a section for other blokes too, you know a bit like “doggy day care” for grandpas? Just to give me a break you understand! I do love him dearly...? soop. I’m a bit concerned about your lovely man, hope they get the rash identified ASAP to ease both your mind and his discomfort.
It’s time for bed, and having only slept sporadically last night, I’m ready for it too so night night, sleep tight to all my granspals!

Greyduster Mon 21-Jan-19 09:23:19

Is there a space left in this new kitchen? I’m very late poking my nose around the door! I spent yesterday afternoon wondering why I suddenly had no time to do anything and I realised it was because I was having to pick up the slack usually provided to me by the things DH does around the house! All he can manage at the moment is laying the table! Get well soon, Mr Duster!

Soop Thankyou for the new kitchen! I hope you and MacS have a comfortable, pleasant day. How is the rash?

Kitty I had to smile at Persie leaving the boys standing on the climbing wall. It immediately put me in mind if a (very long) poem I was fond of, a bit of which goes:

Her figure was slim as Napes Needle;
Her lips were as red as Red Wall;
A regular tiger, she'd been up the Eiger...
North Wall, with no pitons at all! ?

Go, Persie! A regular tiger!

Love all the photos! Hares are my absolute favourite animal. We used to see partridges hereabouts but don’t seem to now. And the photo of the brambling on the frosty stems is a beauty! Interesting perspective too from Gq. I shall have to up my game, ladies!

Izabella, you are doing a splendid job of running the poorly men’s ward, but keep a close eye on the chap with the stick - he’s a troublemaker! Threaten him with an enema - that should keep him in line!

Galen you have a whole heap of both physically and mentally painful stuff to deal with at the moment and my heart goes out to you. Hope there is some sun behind your clouds somewhere. And yes, my children were just as noisy as GS and his friends, I’m afraid!

That’s a good idea, Corner. We need a man crèche! I saw a board outside a pub in Pickering that said “Man Crèche! Ladies, leave your husbands with us. For the price of his drinks you can do your shopping in peace. We will take good care of him!” grin

Well I have to go. Floors to wash, dishwashers to empty, beds to make. Walking sticks to kick!?. School run this afternoon. Apologies for anyone I have missed.

Greyduster Mon 21-Jan-19 09:28:02

Sorry Gq that should have been you, but yours and corner’s posts kind of ran into each other because I was rushing!
