Forget the Windsors, who would you choose for President?

Chucky Sat 23-Feb-19 01:25:59

Mind, if you want a woman as well, I’d happily share the presidency 50/50 with the gorgeous Gerard.

Chucky Sat 23-Feb-19 01:23:46

Gerard Butler, he would get my vote any day!!

I can remember being very impressed with Dame Ellen MacArthur when she was on Desert Island Discs. She sounded like a thoroughly decent person - with a social conscience and a refreshing lack of pomposity. It was a while ago. She may have changed but I hope not.

Jalima please remember , if you want to be president talking of shopping isn’t wise , display of wealth?

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Feb-19 21:21:01

Things just aren't the same any more. sad

Yes, the closure of David Morgan in Cardiff was a blow to us residents as well as visitors, but it could not survive as it was and there was no capital to cover the necessary changes to bring it up to date and meet all the mandated changes to H&S etc.

PECS

Gosh.. I think we need some enthusiasm and passion for something..

Cardiff has never been the same since David Morgan closed CJ!

Jalima:
I could live in Cardiff Castle, handy for John Lewis - or Castell Coch!

While you would find a visit to Cardiff interesting the facilities in both the Castle and Castell Coch might not be what you expect. Work in both places is ongoing and as usual in Wales time is not a constraint. However there are many places to stay from good B&Bs to luxury hotels so do come... before John Lewis closes!

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Feb-19 22:59:45

None of the above PECS
Stacey's OK but rather over-enthusiastic
Who's Catherine Sturgeon?

not the Mirren

Scribbles Wed 20-Feb-19 22:39:09

Alexander Armstrong?? Aaaaagh!! Horrid, irritating man. If he got elected, I'd leave the country.

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 22:30:54

True, not many women have been suggested ,

PECS Wed 20-Feb-19 22:06:08

Helen Mirren?
Stacey Dooley?
Catherine Sturgeon?

Good to give women a,chance too ..hmm

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 20:22:40

Oooooooh Alexander Armstrong

British , not involved in politics , ?

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Feb-19 19:20:40

Would that be pointless though, Dorcas?

Anniebach your DD may well have seen the fairies at Castell Coch, but they told her to say nothing.
Only those who truly believe will see them.

Hugh Dennis [nods head wisely]

I think he has a clean record... I would give him my vote.. go for it Danni

DanniRae Wed 20-Feb-19 19:03:13

He's our man then Annie - If anyone has his address I'll pop round and speak to him about it. I'll be a bit of a nuisance but someones got to do it.........and I really don't mind wink

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 16:40:46

Danni he is british and not heard of him being involved with politics ?

DanniRae Wed 20-Feb-19 16:22:40

Just watched a programme with Hugh Dennis in it and I was impressed with him so I nominate him as our first President. (The programme was about him and David Baddiel (spelling?) driving on a very dangerous road in Ethiopia and he was so capable and steady in very dangerous situations I thought "Aha he would make an excellent President".)
Note how I am constantly on duty regarding Gransnet and suitable answers to current posts!!

Jalima. Not sure about Castell Coch, I will have to ask my younger daughter if a princess and fairies still live there, they certaintly did in the 70’s because she said so, we had to regularly visit it to look for the fairies , unfortunately we seemed to choose the wrong days ?

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Feb-19 15:21:21

Jalima1108, the joke is now clear.
CardiffJaguar grin
