Only had this problem since buying a new dryer which only revolves in one direction.
Just take cover out and give it a shake before putting it back in dryer.

Hang your washing on the line instead.

Some tumble dryers only go round one way. Better ones go one way then the other.

I've had to use a launderette a couple of times recently, the duvet dried beautifully and didn't end up in a ball.

The dryers were enormous.

Is this less of a problem with single size duvets?

EllanVannin my new tumble drier has a larger capacity than the old one.

It's a mystery.

Always remember to do up the duvet, this stops things getting inside.
That's probably a good idea but by the time you've undone it to take off, done it up again to wash it , undone it to put it back on, done it up again ……

I've only noticed it doing this recently - so why?

Put them in separately.
The duvet cover still rolls into a ball. It is a relatively heavy cotton one.

Set the timer for a short time, get the cover out, shake it, replace it, set for short time, repeat. I think it's the only way. Persuade management to install one (or more) of the old fashioned pulley style airers?

They are put in separately dry sheet and pillow cases, then do the duvet cover.

Same problem here, duvet cover rolls up into a bsll. Sheets and pillow cases don't !
Forever unravelling. Duvet cover when forced to dry indoors

I would have said that the drier isn't big enough to accommodate the size of the duvet ? Thus why it goes into a ball.

It's a mystery that is for sure.
I tried putting towels in with the duvets but only ended up with the towels INSIDE the duvet and a huge ball.

Sorry. The dryer is communal as well and I end up with partially dried stuff.

I wish I'd thought to ask this questions months ago because surely someone on GN will know the answer.

Up to 2 years ago I lived in a house and never had this problem. Now I have to use a communal washing machine and it happens all the time. I end up with washing draped all over the main cabin. Grr!

Is it the make of machine?

How can I stop duvets and sheets rolling into a ball in my dryer. I've tried tennis balls in the drum but doesn't work.
