Do vegetarians believe that animals as well as humans shouldn’t eat meat and if so how will it be achieved?

Some vegetarians feed their animals on a vegetarian diet. However, my vegetarian friends do not do so.

I wouldn’t think that true carnivores such as cats can eat veggies. Our cat would carefully leave the stomach when consuming a mouse, I always assumed it was because probably contained grain. (Despite the Bible saying that the lion will lay down with the lamb and eat straw.)

Yes Tangerine my friend who is almost vegan, feeds her cat Felix brand veggie meals and is very militant on meat eating and I wondered if that was the norm.

Dogs are omnivores; my parents once had a Labrador who stole and ate a cauliflower out of the garden. Cats of all sizes are carnivores and it's cruel to subject them to non-meat diets.

I grew up on a sheep farm and one of our ewes just adored a mutton pie...cannibal!

I wouldn't volunteer to teach a tiger to eat carrots or attempt to feed tofu to a polar bear.

Messing about with the natural diet of animals certainly was a huge success with cows wasn't it? BSE burger anyone?

I'm vegetarian, but I feed my cats (and my husband) meat. I think the cats need it for their good health.

Well said, absent.

And, just for accuracy, there's no such thing as a vegetarian animal (apart from the human animals). Animals that don't eat other animals are herbivores. The difference is important because vegetarianism is a human choice; being a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore isn't. Those dietary positions have evolved over millenia.

Apparently dogs can live well on a vegetarian diet...but cats can't!!
I'm vegetarian but my own dog isn't...

I was always told by my mother, like me a cat lover, that cats are carnivores and owners shouldn't try to make them anything else. She had an Old English Sheepdog when she was a child who had an omnivore diet, I believe dogs are more adaptable in that respect, but I'm not an expert.
