Green Shield Stamps. Hmmmm. The most beautiful set of floral Bohemian dessert dishes with a large dish, still in constant use today, even go into the dishwasher. They have gone from UK to SA, SA to Oz, Oz to Belgium and B. to here in France. Love 'em to bits = well, that's perhaps not quite the right phrase but you know what I mean.

Marydoll I knew that you and Big Jim had prior dodgy bar experience before you came to The Argy...and you are still paying for your drinks with those caps, they are blocking up the till!

The Co-op gave stamps, I also collected green shield stamps.
I think we still have two soup bowls ( with soup recipes on) somewhere that we got from a petrol station.

How little we had back then, to be pleased by a few free plastic daffs! ?

I keep the M and S glasses which have had coffee, whisky and cream in them at Xmas. Once I have 6 (equivalent to DH and myself having 3 drinks each ) I give them to charity in case someone wants to buy a set of 6.

I remember I just had to have lemon nylon fitted sheets from Green Shield stamps. Many years later it was mugs from garage, can't remember what was collected to get them.

We were both smokers in the early days of marriage, and saved all the coupons - Embassy, Sterling, No.6 - and I know we 'bought' lots of things with them but for the life of me I can't remember what they were! I do remember enjoying looking through the catalogues.

And, of course, petrol coupons, green shield stamps, co-op divi stamps.

When the children were young we had quite a collection of mugs acquired from collecting chocolate wrappers - Wispa is one I remember - and Kelloggs Cornflakes cereal bowls.

More recently, Tesco have from time to time given stamps that could be used against a purchase, greatly reducing the price, and I have several things in regular use, such as kitchen knives and bakeware.

Now I used the green stamps I got when I bought my special offer Kenwood mixer from Tesco. (I carefully planned to buy it on a Tuesday in order to get double stamps on my special OFFER) to go and get a new Prestige handwhisk, which I still have and use for whisking egg whites.

The mixer is still in regular use, I bought the liquidizer attachment and use that frequently.

Got a Kenwood mixer with Greenshield Stamos when I got engaged about 46 years ago. Still comes out at Christmas (I don’t cook much now) and is still going strong.

Bought my then 3-year old daughter a lovely yellow tricycle with green shield stamps. She was so thrilled with it she wanted to take it to bed, so I let her (only ridden indoors due to rain). Now 49, but clearly remembers it to this day.
30 years ago bought gorgeous vegetable patterned flan dish with Shell coupons. Calculated had cost nearly £300 in petrol! Made very expensive quiches.

Narrowboatnan, I still have my pottery from Keymarket, most of it anyway, it doesn`t get used anymore, but is still in the cupboard, a case of waste not, want not. I collected some others from there at a later date, these were more lightweight, quite pretty, but only 2 dinner plates and a few small plates left out of the plates, but still have 4 cups and saucers.

My Mum used to save up coupons and get things like tea towels and biscuit tins. Bless.
The very best thing I ever collected vouchers for was my Dairy Home Cookbook (you got them for buying extra milk from your milkman) which is absolutely my day to day cooking 'bible'. Every single recipe that I've used is a success.

When we were courting we had a friend who worked in an Esso garage and used to sneak us extra glasses, crockery and sundae dishes. I still have a lot of them. We used to collect pink stamps with petrol and saved enough to buy a double bed by the time we got married.
All my OH's family were heavy smokers and when we married several of his relatives asked us to choose a wedding present from the Embassy voucher catalogue! I still have the rolling pin and several Pyrex casserole dishes.

When I first got married in 1968 my grandmother and mother presented me with 2000 green shield stamps saved from petrol stations. I fitted out my kitchen with kitchen containers, bread bin (remember those ?), knives, bread board and knife, Tupperware type stuff, mixing bowl and kitchen scales. I still had some left which I added to in time.

We got a pushchair from Green Shield Stamps ...we were really proud of it.

I don't remember collecting Green Shield stamps, but I do remember getting a dinner service, bit by bit, week by week, from Key Markets. It was a sort of mustard colour, thick, heavy crockery with a pattern of some sort on. Still see them about sometimes, mostly in charity shops.

I managed to collect enough Green Shield stamps for a whole six place setting of cutlery which us still in use today.
Then the school mouse that we were looking after in the holidays got out of her cage and chewed up a whole book of stamps! Never bothered again.
Collect nectar points now and use them on eBay.

I remember Mum & Dad getting blue suitcases with Green Shield stamps. We used them to go on family holidays to Majorca & Ibiza when my brothers & I were kids. Definitely not still around today though, perhaps we should have gone for the Pyrex or glasses!

I’m still Using the dinner service My mum got with green shield stamps.. gotta be 50 years or more. Still using two big glass dishes I got at petroleum station ...use them for salad and trifles.

We were lucky enough to get free return flights from Glasgow to Malaga with Hoover . A lot of the folks who got the free European flights didn't actually use them so they then extended the promotion to American flights but we were very happy with our chosen ones. It was in the early 1990's.

25Avalon, the pink stamps were run by a company called Pink Stamps, based in Manchester. I still have a full book of them, but I can't remember which shop(s) they came from. They had places where you could redeem them in towns all over the UK.

We have a couple of Christmas tree decorations which came from petrol stations. I remember (and probably still have somewhere) picture cards in several different series from different tea brands, and how exciting it was sticking them into the albums. Don't think I ever filled one though.

We collected Green Shield stamps when we bought petrol. When we bought our first house 43 years ago, we exchanged them for a small set of wooden steps, which are still in use today, although slightly shaky!

We used to collect Green Shield stamps from Tesco too. I got lots of baby stuff including bedding and a bath/bucket and potty set for our first baby.
We also smoked and collected cigarette coupons from various brands.
As an Army wife I then spent years collecting NAAFI stamps. WE bought all sorts of household things with them, including a toaster and a Kenwood mixer..
Later I shopped at Co -op and collected their stamps too.
We have also collected all kinds from petrol stations too. We still have tartan car rug that is over 30 years old.
