Morning all,
Its a blue sky day here too, so I think sod the housework lets go out and make the most of it !!
Id definitely eat cake for breakfast if we had any.....:-)
I read somewhere GrannieQ that lots of people do what you did , go and buy lots of stuff and then return it, they get their shopping fix without permanent damage to their bank balance !!
I'm not a fan of G & T but I'm with Galen I like some serious bubbles!!
We have had a series of visitors to the garden of late but the little fellow in the picture was a first !
Ill leave you with a picture Grampy took of the sunrise yesterday ( I was still snoozing like any sensible person !!)

Morning all.
Thanks for your lovely warm welcome. I am new to Gransnet but have been poking my head around the door for a while. I'm a quiet one who will pop in now and again. It's a beautiful day here with clear blue skies, just had my breakfast and am enjoying a huge mug of green tea. Have to be low carb now after all the cake yesterday but was yummy even if I say so myself....
. Hope you all have a good day. Healing thoughts to those with health concerns.
Good morning all, since I've already been awake since silly o’clock I thought I’d pop in to say hello. Too early for cake or chocolate, even for me, so help yourself to freshly warmed croissants with strawberry jam.
kitty that scrumptious boy has a real twinkle in his eye! Cooper probably has too, if only we could see his eyes under that hat, n&g! Mim is another gorgeous one, mamissimo. Not sure if I’m up for sucking a lemon but I do enjoy a refreshing g&t. corner, I’m wondering if you may need more than one glass to deal with your current dilemma?
Good to hear your son's recovering now, callgirl, that scare must have given you all an awful fright. Hope you continue to recover marydoll, you've had a rough time recently too.
Yes I too enjoy food other people have cooked. It doesn’t matter if it’s fancy food, or plain fare, just not having to prepare it myself is the magic ingredient for me. As for hoarding and chocolate, I’m afraid these two words just don’t belong in the same sentence for me, though like grampy my old boy has much more self restraint and when pressed will share some of his “stash”
Ann I hope you enjoyed entertaining your family. I recently saw a little video clip by a young widow, she spoke about the expectation that bereaved people will “let go” of a loved one and “move on” in their lives. Her experience told her “moving forward” is more realistic i.e. the person they love remains important and still so much part of of who they are. It seemed to me to be a sensible way of looking at things.
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday entertaining dd2 whose house is a bit of a building site just now. No doubt the much longed for and carefully planned kitchen extension will be beautiful....when it’s done! In the meantime they’re getting by with a microwave in the only downstairs room that’s useable. Sil and the 2 girls were having a football day which involved tea at his mum and dad’s, so she came to us to relax and enjoy a proper meal. She was also able to give me some helpful fashion advice for a wedding next weekend. We were asked last week to take part in the ceremony, I’d then had a bit of a panic and convinced myself I had nothing to wear that wouldn’t make me look like a sack of potatoes. My old boy's advice is not always reliable or helpful in these situations, so off I went on a mission to the big city. I returned with umpteen options none of which were quite right. So the end result is that I'm wearing a dress I already have and the all stuff I bought will be returned today. What a malarkey, but very good for the bank balance!
Toya and wishing you a good day whatever you’re up to. I’ll leave you with a photo of the river we walked along last night. If you listen carefully you might just hear the sound of water rushing over the weir.
Would you like me to organise a group AA session?! Maybe I should run and hide.
I have never tasted gin in my life but I do enjoy dry white or red with the appropriate food.
Callgirl that sounds positive re your son.
There really are too many buggerations going on here at present.
TOYA
Thanks all for your concern and good wishes for my son. My DIL picked me up to go to the hospital this afternoon, I was nervous about what he`d be like, but he feels OK today. Blood cultures were taken, and have come back OK, so he`s been told that if everything is still alright tomorrow, he`ll probably be going home. I don`t know what happens about his last week of radiotherapy, whether he just carries on on Tuesday or if it`s postponed for a week.
A big welcome to all bearing cake, especially the virtual no calorie sort.
Marydoll, good to see you back.
Nannytopsy, I hope your eye is soon better.
Kitty, Wolfie is a very wise looking young man.
We don`t keep a lot of alcohol in the house, but every Sunday Lynne and I share a can of pear cider, ice cold, with our dinner, and I really look forward to it. So what did I do today? Only knocked my bloomin`1 glass over and lost every drop! AND it was the last can, sorry about the caps Phoenix, just emphasising my point.
Just got my first glass of chilled white. How restrained am I?
.
Buggerations of the practical sort are besetting Mr C, I suspect the electrical item s simply at the end of its useful life but there is much huffing, puffing and scowling. Mr C is in frustrated fix it mode. Help
.
The only antidote is to return to my glass of white. So here’s to a smoother path through life for us all. TOYA.
no Anno not a scrap of my Easter chocolate left BUT Grampy…..oh he's a chocolate hoarder !! The best I can say , if I look pathetic enough he WILL share :-)
N&G, surely you haven't managed to save Easter Eggs all this time? I only have to look at chocolate - eggs or slabs - and it's gone. Doesn't help to be living alone. There's nobody to share it - or steal it - nor control me!
Second glass of chilled white here. Lovely. We've stopped drinking during the week but I savour my Sunday night drinks.
It had to be Shweppe's.
After my H had his stroke, I used to show the Gin bottle to the glass, add the lemon, and tonic water.
He loved it bless him.
Cheers - G&T here in TopsyTowers too!
Oh, commiserations Galen, that’s so tough, but you can’t let those lovely bubbles go flat.
Have a wonderful cruise to, and along, the fjords. I’m envious!
Safely. Board and unpacked.
Halfway down my first bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne. It’s a hard life! As I’m on my own I’ve got to drink it all!??
ann It's a date. At 6 o'clock sharp, I shall raise a G&T to your good health and that of all our kitcheners.
Sending
to our dear Panaches.
The weather appears to be improving during the coming week. How lovely is that. I've one gentle job to do...the garden bench needs re teak-oiling. Slat by leisurely slat. No way would I encourage the wrath of you lot.
Until tomorrow.
and TOYA
allassinsane Love your name. Come on in and make yourself at home. Lemon drizzle cake is strictly off on my menu. As it's virtual, it's calorie free and twice as tempting.
TOY A on this beautiful day.
I made a jam and butter cream Victoria Sponge this morning so please help yourselves.
To all ill themselves or worrying about loved ones I send best wishes for things to improve.
I am cooking a roast as my S is staying with me and his S who is 17 and has hollow legs is coming for dinner.
It is so nice to cook for someone else.
I will treat myself to a G&T at 6, my H loved one.
Hello labaz and allas, good to see you.
Ouch nannyt, that must hurt. Wishing you well with the new meds marydoll, you’ve had enough buggerations to last a lifetime. That cough is certainly hanging on kitty You must be seriously fed up.
Love all the photos, the children make me smile.
Been trying to plant some pots today, lovely day, but note the ‘trying to’, didn’t get very far. Oh well anther day tomorrow not touched as my Mum used to say. .
TOYA, take care.
Welcome to you too Labaz.
nannyt hope your eye is better soon. That sort of injury can be really painful. (you weren’t looking through keyholes were you ?)
Mr &MrsP hope you are ok and that sheltered housing move is still on the cards. Take care.
Hello allas welcome to the kitchen. Sit next to me ......and bring your cake with you
N&G I think Cooper would make a very dashing fireman ??...perhaps with a slightly smaller hat.?
callgirl sorry to hear your son is in hospital. Hope he is ok.
Marydoll sorry you have to miss your holiday to Spain. Hope you continue to improve and the new meds help.
Lovely photos of the kitchen youngsters ?
TOYA
galen lovely to see you back in the kitchen again. Hope you enjoy the fjords. We have cruised Norway a couple of times and enjoyed it very much. Where are you stopping?
As for your picture, I wouldn’t have got the joke with out kitty’s post.
Have a good trip.
Welcome to Labaz and allassinsane love lemon drizzle.
Speaking of lemons, my mother could suck a lemon, I prefer mine in a G&T. Having said that, since my op on Feb 6 and the hospital bug that I picked up - nothing alcoholic has passed my lips, can't face it.I can't drink coffee as yet either. ?
Lovely photos of Mim, Wolfie and Cooper
Enjoy your holiday Galen
I'm sorry to hear about your son Callgirl and hope for a good outcome with the oncologist tomorrow.
I hope the new meds do the trick Marydoll
