Having heard that Ukraine has elected a comedian as president I wondered who I'd vote for if we had to elect one.
Josh Widdecombe would cheer us all up. David Mitchell might be too intellectual and cynical. James Acaster too off the wall.
Possibly Rob Brydon? I'm not sure.
Not interested in responses commenting on current politics please.
Who would you suggest?

Michael McIntyre

I used to think Sanid Toksvig was great but she does seem to be extraordinarily pleased with herself these days.

Greg Davies anyone? He's 6' 8" tall and has size 14 feet so perhaps no-one would argue with him.

I used to like Sandi Toksvig but she seems to be morphing into Donald Trump.

montymops: lee mack would probs be too larky. I like the idea of Sandi Tosvig tho and Henning Vane sounds interesting. I think he is quite intelligent as well, but would people take him seriously comes to mind xxxxxx

Jane10: I agree. He has the right mix of intellegance, likeability and charm xxxx

Jo Brand. She'd bang all their heads together and make them see sense!

Jason manford. All round good guy.

John Bishop for me even though he is a millionaire might not always get needs of poor people

moggie57 Wed 24-Apr-19 22:52:30

Gary Meikle (the iBrow Guy). He's been on the comedy circuit for a few years but has only recently come to a lot of people's notice. I saw him live a few weeks back, he came across as a genuinely nice (and I hate that word) man, as well as being very funny.

Yes trisher, Joe Lycett is so good at solving consumer problems on that programme. He'd be great in charge of the country.

1inamillion Wed 24-Apr-19 21:24:58

Rhod Gilbert.

Lily65 Wed 24-Apr-19 20:24:11

are you infact an undercover officer from the serious crime squad?

jerseygirl Wed 24-Apr-19 20:15:54

michael mcintyre definately (probably spelt wrong!!)

Tooyoungytobeagrandma Wed 24-Apr-19 19:32:50

Russell Howard because I have read that in "real life" by people who have met him that he is a really nice and genuine person. I have seen him live and find him very funny and love his stories about his family smile

Peter Kay

Lenny Henry for sure.

The divine Victoria Wood ticks ALL my boxes. Very sadly missed.

But does no one else like Jason Manford? He uses his fame for good causes, which I believe started with helping Stephen Sutton raise £2.5 million. He then went on to help, via his now-established, but "secret" CharityNinjas, Jeffrey Long raise in excess of £100,000 for the Royal British Legion (Jeffrey's target was £1,000!) and every week, Jason nominates one or two good causes to which the Ninjas donate nominal sums, which cumulatively help people raise much needed funds.

Plus - when we went to see him last month, he came across as just a genuinely lovely man.

And of COURSE, no cabinet would be complete without The Big Yin!

montymops Wed 24-Apr-19 17:32:52

Like the Whitehouse idea! Also Sandy Toksvig. Lee Mack? Henning Wehn?

annodomini Wed 24-Apr-19 17:28:46

Nish Kumar. He takes a satirical look at politics and politicians.

Peardrop50 Wed 24-Apr-19 17:21:10

How about Paul O'Grady, he seems sincerely kind and thoughtful in his dealings with people and animals alike. We could do with a little more kindness along with dollops of laughter.

Direne3 Wed 24-Apr-19 17:20:31

Ed Byrne, I warmed to him when he did that pilgrimage walk with other celebrities.

GreenGran78 Wed 24-Apr-19 17:19:59

Ricky Tomlinson. He has integrity, and is straight as a die. He even got sent to prison - unjustly - while fighting for workers' rights to safety measures. I could just imagine him replying, "My a***" to the pompous politicians!

sue01 Wed 24-Apr-19 17:15:41

Dara O'Brian... sharp as a tack... and Irish of course, which might help with the Backstop !!

harrysgran Wed 24-Apr-19 17:06:27

Peter Kay for me
