I agree that Stephen Tomlinson is not at all like banks. Can’t watch Agatha raisin either. The casting is totally wrong.

Lewis, principally because of the regular appearances of Clare Holman and Rebecca Front. Plus the views of Oxford, of course.

Goran and Eames - Criminal Intent - cynical and smart
Taggart - even without Mark McManus - gritty and athmospheric
Miss Phryne Fisher - most stylish sleigh on the box
Wallender - all of them - but particularly the. Original Swedish ones
Saga Noren - cool, contientious, yet vulnerable

Joan Hickson as Miss Marple and John Thaw as Morse

I loved Van der Valk, and Morse, of course.

Miss Fisher is a stylish sleuth!

Love them all, but Montalbano is top, fabulous series too. But then there is the Korean Dane who played Alf in 'Follow the Money ', totally gorgeous J.

I also liked Van de Valt. Also the music. Eye level.

My absolute favourite is Rufus Sewell as Aurelio Zen.

The lovely (but late) Joan Hickson as "Miss Marple".

P.S., except Montalbano. Cannot stand it or the hero. Am bemused by its popularity here.
Poor script, cartoon hero (sexist twit). Bad supporting cast of buffoons. Nice mise en scene though, I'll give it that.

I'd forgotten Shetland Lilyflower - I like that too.

How could I have forgotten Laure and Gilou from Spiral. LOVE this program.

I don’t know who cast Alan Banks, but it’s so wrong! When I read the books, I imagine someone very much like Peter Barlow from Coronation Street!
