I've had a lengthy appointment with the lady GP. I was her last patient of the day. Forty five minutes of her undivided attention. It doesn't get much better than that.
I do have another UTI. I have yet more anti bios. Sample of wee gone to the lab.
She has all the paper work that I've compiled for her to read whensoever she has the time. Apart from being a wonderful GP, she's also a trusted friend.
She will keep on top of my complicated case, and if at all possible, arrange for me to have an in-depth scan on the pelvic area. I feel heaps better for seeing her. A little hope goes a very long way.

TOYA. After ironing duty, I shall call into our kitchen for further news and an exchange of points of view.

There's a howling gale here in grey Mid Sussex. OH has just informed me in lugubrious tones that my row of gladioli, just ready for cutting, has been smashed to the ground. He always seems to get great enjoyment from imparting bad news! I must venture out to see if the runner bean wigwam has survived.

Next door's cat yowled at the window, asking for shelter, so we've been having a lovely cuddle. He now knows that "go to sleep" means that he is to lie down on my lap and stop kneading his claws into my flesh! Clever cat.

I'd just put some washing on the line when it occurred to me to look at my phone's weather app. It told me that it would rain in 26 minutes. So I brought the washing back in and it did rain when it was predicted. As it also said it would thunder at 4pm, I am holding on before I decide to go out to the shops. It's still raining. Again.

Our pal in the care home repeatedly asks us to be sure that his car is being kept in good condition for when he needs it. He's been bed-bound for almost five years. There is no car. We tell him that, should the time arrive when he's able and active, we'll go with him to the nearest garage. It isn't going to happen. But, imagining that it might puts a smile on his face.

Care home visit went as well as can be expected. T, the lady I visit, said little but smiled a lot. When she fell asleep, I got out of my chair as quietly as possible and as I turned to go...she put out her hand and drew me back.

Will report back re visit to GP later this afternoon. A representative from the Cornwall Hospital Board has been in touch. I am hopeful of info in due course. In the meantime...hey ho...I'm in warrior mode.

Granny Gravy, I felt for you yesterday at the dentist, sometimes childhood fears stay with us! As a child of the fifties I have never overcome my mother's fear of dentists...I'm afraid I inherited her fear and yet I know it's irrational!

Nannytopsy, I feel for you. It seems so unnecessary to have this extra layer of paperwork. DH keeps paperwork for years but I'm sure we'd be hard pressed to produce 'stuff' for our last boiler.

Dear Syn, sending thoughts of support re the DVLC issue. DH changed his UK licence to a French one which seems to not require the checks etc. Don't know how I feel about that but I know since life has been on hold while he waits for his back op the possibility of still having a licence has lifted his spirits.

I slept so badly as usual that
I slept in after dosing off again at about 7am.
It is dull but warm today, so far not the rain we are promised.

Synonymous when we had our caravan in Wales a regular visitor to another van had had a leg amputated.
He drove, occasionally left his leg off and hopped around the decking, was very agile,however he was in his early fifties and had probably had a long time to get used to it.I think what I am saying is, anything is possible with determination, let your H find his own loss ( if you can).

My hibiscus has about 6 measly flower buds, it hasn't done well for a couple of years, I think a good talking to and a great of being uprooted is in order.

Must away and find something to do, there is lots but the cleaner is coming tomorrow instead of Thursday so I have yet another excuse to do b....r all.

Syn how positive your DH sounds. I understand your reluctance over the driving but it sounds like a milestone for him so I hope some compromise can be reached where he feels 'normal' again and you are not worried too much.

I am off to throw some syn free cheese and onion scones in the oven to take for todays taster session ( scones is a broad term in this cake , more like little cheese flavoured rocks , but hey ho- any port on a diet !!)

You’ve both got adjusting to do synonymous , no wonder you had a ‘moment’ what do the medics say about your husband driving? I understand your worry, it will take time for that to pass.

Worn out after a long call from my poorly friend’s daughter who has a big heart but sometimes, just sometimes, gets herself into a pickle when her heart rules her head. On the positive side her Mum is progressing, very slowly but nothing wrong with being a tortoise.

The hibiscus is flowering it’s heart out, here’s a photo before tomorrow’s promised storms annihilate it. Cheerful and positive, that’s me today .

My very best wishes for tomorrow afternoon Soop. The Balsam plant is gorgeous, I`ve not heard of them before.

My helper comes in the morning so we are planning on as much baking as energy will allow and Himself wants to blanch and freeze his fennel which has been harvested by our gardening friend. I am trying to get him to realise that accepting help is not an admission of failure! I need him not to attempt to try out the recipe he has just found for Fennel and almond soup. He thinks it will be nice as a first course for Christmas Dinner!!! It probably will be but there is plenty of time for all that. Are you starting to see the downside to a very determined man?!? Good job I love him!

He is also trying to get his driving licence renewed and I am feeling very concerned about the whole thing. It is not the done deal he seems to think as confirmed today by the DVLA who want more medical details. It is the PTSD and the sudden onset of that in an unforseen circumstance or emergency which worries me more than him using hand controls due to the loss of the leg!
Forgive me for having a moment now that he is sound asleep annd I am just going over the events of the day in my head. I am just sharing (because I need to!) and know that this is something which must be slowly worked through but I would be so thankful to have him not driving again. He was a very good advanced driver at one time but everything is very different now.

Good luck tomorrow Soop! I was “let go” at the eye hospital today, so that is a relief. I have spent much of the afternoon on the phone/email to solicitors and estate agents, to put a rocket under our solicitor. Is it a new requirement that all gas appliances HAVE to be serviced, with a certificate? Boiler is, fire and cooker not. What happened to caveat emptor?

Charleygirl it is indeed warm today. I took GS to a local NT place. Too much walking hence now feeling bushed.
I did enjoy his 6-yr-old excitement at watching pond skaters and dragonflies on the lake and the insect trail that was on offer by the NT. Showers and sun tomorrow (apparently).

Care home visit tomorrow morning. Home for a while to catch up. Off to see GP later in the afternoon.

Thank you all for kind messages. corner suggested a group of people with the same buggerations as I've experienced since prolapse surgery in 2003. I am beginning to feel confident of asking for answers that have have not been forthcoming in spite of years of referrals to a variety of consultants throughout hospitals in Scotland.

Today, I had a surprise. A member of the private hospital in which the surgery was performed contacted me. She has asked me to confirm several details which I was pleased to do. We shall wait and see whether or not I'm any the wiser after investigations are completed.

Good Afternoon to everyone in the kitchen. I have read all the posts now, I hope that those with buggerations will have a positive outcome.
I will try the delicious icecream recipes Maw and Galen, whereabouts are you on the Bristol side by the way?
greyd I left some plum crumble in the fridge for you, with vanilla custard, though I love icecream it has to be custard with crumble in this house.

I have been to the opticians this afternoon, just called in by chance to see if they had an appointment and hey presto they did. I knew that I would need new glasses and my right eye is significantly worse than my left. Strangely after years of being shortsighted my longer vision has improved, but I can no longer read without my specs. I also have the glaucoma test as my father had it. My DH was in the waiting room but is of no use helping me chose glasses, a chocolate teapot springs to mind. I told the optician I would be in on Saturday with my DD to chose the new frames - and he said ' you'll bring your personal stylist then', he's right too, she will tell me exactly what suits and what doesn't!
It is still warm and muggy here but it has clouded over significantly, rain is forecast for tomorrow. I have included a photo of one of the hanging baskets, not as good this year despite Miracle Grow, they need rain.
