Don't wash them it's going to rain tomorrow and you'll have to tumble dry them then they won't fit and he won't wear them on holiday and you can't send them back because they've been washed.

Get him to wear the clothes; stand him in a warm shower and hose him down - then make sure he wears them until they dry - or disintegrate as he steps onto the shower mat.

Only then will you be sure.
