Right, kitcheners, get busy. You know the routine. The tin of flapjacks to keep you going is in the corner with a kettle. The water's already on.

If at all possible I do "click and collect" and I can pick up at my leisure. It is normally delivered by Royal Mail and not the other shower.

Callistemon Sat 07-Dec-19 14:46:19

Galen I'm still awaiting a parcel from Amazon which was 'delivered' somewhere three weeks ago.
I contacted them and they sent it out again to me, safely received the second time.
They'd texted me a photo of the house where they'd left the original parcel but it wasn't my house.

dragonfly46 Sat 07-Dec-19 17:16:49

I had a parcel delivered at 7.30 this morning. The postman got a shock seeing a bald woman in her pyjamas!

Welcome inkcog we are a friendly lot here.

Hope * the Panaches* are okay and * Soop* gets her internet back soon.

inkcog Sat 07-Dec-19 17:46:24

Thanks dragonfly, that is so kind of you.

Feelingmyage55 Sat 07-Dec-19 18:41:53

Welcome inkcog. I have left some Christmas shortbread on the side. I know it is slightly darker than it should be. Just eat it with your eyes closed cos it tastes fine (I think). What a day, pouring rain, wipers going like the clappers and shops playing Christmas music so loudly I could hardly think and the lights - why, why, why are the lights so bright now? Going to sit in a dim corner eating shortbread now that I have got that off my chest. Maybe I should wear dark glasses when I am shopping - and earplugs? Ooooh I feel better for having a rant. dragonfly My postie has seen me in a towel because he knew I was in and needed a signature - he never batted an eye at the time but I am sure he must have fooled them into the back of his head when he got back in his van. Will watch Strictly tonight. Have a good weekend and TOYA.

Rolled not fooled autocorrect is wild like the weather

Oops. Missed saying hello and welcome inkcog. I’m a bit preoccupied at the moment and more scatterbrained than usual. Who’d have thought that possible grin

I’m currently sat in the car waiting for Mr C’s photography workshop to finish. Light trails whatever they are. Had a nice wander round surprisingly quiet shops but would love to be off home now. I will wait for him, honestly smile

TOYA.

inkcog Sat 07-Dec-19 19:34:40

mmm, slightly overfired shortbread, yum

Doodle Sat 07-Dec-19 20:08:40

Welcome inkcog. You will find us a bunch of slightly nutty cake eaters (except for Galen who’s very clever ?). The kitchen is a kind place. We support and care for each other and eat cake. Our wonderful soop is slightly indisposed due to internet problems but hopefully will be along to greet you soon.

Doodle Sat 07-Dec-19 20:09:44

Pantglas2 are you new as well? If so welcome tchgrin

Pantglas2 Sat 07-Dec-19 20:20:14

Thank you doodle - I’m new to the thread but have been on GN since May - so enjoying this parallel universe!

Seeing as I’m here might as well have a cup of tea and leave a pot of my freshly made Red Onion Marmalade in the pantry if one wants cheese & crackers later - enjoy!

Doodle Sat 07-Dec-19 20:24:49

You will always find a warm welcome in soop’s kitchen pantglas. You won’t always find cake (because I might have got in first and eaten it all tchblush

Hello all and welcome to new visitors to soop's I'm trying to warm up after standing on a stall at the village Christnas light switch on. It was perishing cold and quite windy but we managed to raise some money and spread the word.

Charleygirl5 Sat 07-Dec-19 21:01:49

Doodle do you never listen to a word your dentist tells you?

inkcog others have said we are cliquey but we are not. Many of us have "known" each other for many years. I have "seen" many GC grow up and are now at school. I personally prefer pets so I have seen cats and dogs enjoy new surroundings and settle down as a member of the family.

We are kind to one another and do try to help if anybody has a particular problem.

I hope you are enjoying GN.
TOYA

Had an appt with an Orthopaedic surgeon this morning, was in his room for all of five minutes.
I am scheduled for a hip replacement in February, his opinion was, it needs doing, get it done as soon as possible.
Will this be a new lease of life? We will see.

Galen Sat 07-Dec-19 22:03:25

Not clever! Just blessed with a good memory

NanaandGrampy Sat 07-Dec-19 22:04:23

Evening all,

Finally home and shattered . That 200 mile round trip is a killer sometimes.

Glad all are well, pass that shortbread please !

Had a fab party with the little man , a good time was had by all ! I’ll leave you till tomorrow with a picture of the birthday boy - he told me being 8 is great ?

aggie Sat 07-Dec-19 22:06:58

Ann you will be so much better after xxxx

Doodle Sat 07-Dec-19 22:14:56

galen you will always be the bright star in my kitchen tchgrin
charleygirl you are such a spoil sport. Just because the Argy has closed down and you can’t inspect the toilets anymore you are now checking up on my teeth. They are all clean and shiny, look ? (mind you, they are not mine ?)

Nannytopsy Sat 07-Dec-19 22:48:50

Hello all! We went to our first GC Christmas choir do ( he is only Y1) and it was so sweet and wonderfully tuneless. He grinned at the end of each song and gave a little bow whenever there was applause. ?
Charleygirl I am happy to swap our 15 ginger - appropriately called Charlie! He wakes us for attention a couple of times each night and refuses to come in at bed time. Any takers?
Starting to get a bit twitchy about how much we need to do before Christmas!
TOYA (* Pantglas & Inkcog* it stands for thinking of you all)

Callistemon Sat 07-Dec-19 23:53:21

inkcog the thing about the kitchen is that you can eat whatever you like and never put on an ounce in weight.

Hooray! My first full night of unbroken sleep since the lurgy first hit and although much coughing on awakening there was not much produced iykwim.hmm I must be on the mend!
I was so mad yesterday when I received a return phone call from a friend answering my answer phone message that I think it helped me to get rid. They came to see us before we went up to the big smoke for Himself's leg appointment and apparently they only came because he wasn't feeling too good and was bored - nice eh?! Result was that I unknowingly took his germs to church where there are loads of health professionals working in the community and local hospital then onwards to a big hotel with guests and staff from all over. Onwards to the prosthetics hospital where there are so many vulnerable people and finally to the prosthetics specialist who travels over the whole UK. It was only on our return that I collapsed in a heap still not knowing about the germs I was incubating. Just thought it was the usual ME.
It beggars belief that people can be so unthinking and so uncaring about keeping their germs to themselves! The worst of all was that they had gone out yesterday afternoon ( spreading them even further) in spite of him having had two courses of antibiotics as well as two lots of steroid treatment which have had no effect whatsoever so he knew full well how infectious he still is. I could hear him hacking away in the background and recognised all the familiar sounds! I was incandescent and plotting some rather spectaculour revenge blush before going to bed which was probably why I slept so well!
I do hope you lovely lot are keeping well in spite of the idiots all around us!

Izabella lovely photos, hope you are enjoying the warmth and having a happy time.

N&g I can't quite take in how big the GC are getting, you daren't take your eyes off them! Lovely cake too. smile Himself spent over an hour talking on the phone to DGSs yesterday, mainly because I couldn't, and really enjoyed himself so that was really good.

Welcome to all new kitcheners!

soop hope you are managing to catch up on R&R but we do miss you so!

As for the rest TOYA and sending flowers - especially to the Panaches.
